Are these newer peptides like retatrutide as good as they seem (beyond 'do they make people thinner', there are claims of other positive side effects e.g. with sleep apnea, osteo arthiritis, insulin sensitivity, etc) or is it marketing hype and they're all just normal benefits of being lighter?

America is in that part of the historical cycle where words and books are banned but executions are good clean entertainment and everyone is pretending not to notice the national leader eating his own poo. If only history offered a guide for where this all leads.

Also, I notice all the AI oligarchs not allowing their own children to use it, and instead will use human teachers. Just like Zuck banning his kid from using social media. The oligarchs want a world for us that they wont live themselves.

The viewers ditching streaming 'rot' in favour of DVDs
A survey suggests streaming subscription numbers are down, and film critic Dan Slevin reckons “we’re starting to realise the rot of it”.

If you really want to get "more people off welfare and into work", consider not tanking the economy. That typically works better than performative cruelty.
The party also promised:
to provide "intensive, work-focused support" for 30,000 jobseekers who have been on Jobseeker for more than a year, with more funding for employment programmes that support young people into work.
lowering the rate of payment for those who had been on the benefit for two of the previous three years, from 1 April 2028. There would be a smaller reduction for households with dependent children.
those who repeatedly leave employment without good and sufficient reason would face a 26-week non-entitlement period, up from 13 weeks.
from 1 April 2028, the minimum residence period to qualify for main benefits will increase from two years to five years.
Upston said the party was focused on "getting more people off welfare and into work".

*airhorns* the rare Chris Luxon handing it to him has occurred
Luxon promises no changes on abortion, conversion therapy laws

Responding to Peters' comments on abortion, Christopher Luxon said the laws were settled and he would not be changing them.

"I said in 2023 I would not be changing them as prime minister, and I've met that commitment, and I'll continue to meet that commitment," he said.

"There will be no changes under me as prime minister."

Luxon also shot down Peters' hopes for reversing the conversion therapy ban: "No, we're not overturning that at all. That's not changing whatsoever."

Anyway. While 95% of the country was having a good faith debate about a hard issue on where to draw the line, 5% were mourning their loss of capacity to act abusively. Bob McCoskrie and, apparently, Winston Peters are speaking for that 5%. And they want to impose their views on everyone else. No.
