This kind of thing is infuriating and it is constant. PIP is an in-work benefit designed to cover the extra costs related to disability (and for most people it's desperately inadequate). Many people are only able to work because of the equipment, transport etc. that PIP makes available to them.

Govt minister Josh MacAlister claims unemployed young people are paid with PIP to be out of work. Except PIP isn't an out of work benefit, plenty of people who receive PIP are in work & PIP enables them to do that. Josh knows this. What hes doing is whipping up anger towards disabled people.

Andy Burnham announces end of triple-lock on the state pension from 2030. It will be replaced by double-lock, slower growth in state pension. Full state pension is already less than 50%of the minimum wage. Poverty awaits future retirees. £500bn of taxes not collected by HMRC since 2010.

I really don’t think that’s the case. I do think that probably these people hate femininity, which they see as weakness. But that doesn’t mean that they are secretly gay or trans. And I think that it does damage to insist that they are. Maybe some are, but definitely not all.

I don't know what's going on in the uk but in France it's not that kids aren't reading, it's that they stop reading as they head towards the end of high school and uni. And do stop criticizing choice of reading, do continue reading even to kids who can read by themselves, and model reading for them

1. Make sure you're doing it yourself. Kids read most readily when parents read. Seeing the adults around them reading, hearing them talk about what they're reading, is often the best way to engage their interest.

Kind of alarmed at the number of places across the UK where Serious Investment is sorely needed. There's a backlog of undone maintenance and upgrades going back years. Some politician is going to have to bite the bullet and release funds eventually or people will get hurt.
