I’d love to know this too (thread up for context). There *must* be good practice guides b/c these are ppl in the first stages of radicalisation (1. Believing you are part of a superior group 2. Believing - despite all evidence to the contrary- that you are oppressed). What’s the intervention?

Holy shit I've never in my life heard of a publication treating an interview one reporter did as fair game for *every single journalist who works at that publication* that's BANANAS and I would not ever speak with USA Today as long as that's the case.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

Somehow, the existance of a movie with Val Kilmer, LL Cool J, Christian Slater & Johnny Lee Miller, about a serial killer, serial killer profilers based loosely on a classic Christie novel, passed me by in my 20s. Making up for that on a lazy Friday evening now it's just dropped on netflix...

I'm trying to come up with some witty observation about how the british museum clearly can't be trusted to look after heritage items and ensure they are seen by a diverse range of people so we should send them all off to other countries but it's Friday pm and that's the best I could do.

I fear that a lot of what is called devolution will be continuing the trend of the last 15 years of pushing a lot of delivery to local authorities without any say in what they want to deliver or ability to raise funds themselves to do it.

We should be centralising simple schemes, but devolving neighbourhood schemes. Also this doesn't pass my devolution sniff test: devolution is only devolution if a city can do something central government opposes.

Here's the thing, while some people will be able to do scaffolding work into their late 60s and maybe to 70, depending on pension age rises, most won't, and those that do *will* experience health impacts. So...what's the welfare support/new career option for the scaffolder who has to quit at 53?

Today's example of this: every single post box within a reasonable walk of my house (say, 1 mile) has only one collection a day, between 8&9am. Post at lunchtime = won't even be picked up until the next day. And, of course, the 2 post offices that were within 2 miles have both been closed down.

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.
From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (
