NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital. CHUCK SCHUMER (behind sniper rifle): Found one PELOSI: Take the shot

personally I think the New York Times’ chief legal correspondent should know that the court was not a 6-3 conservative majority during Trump’s first term
In his first administration, Mr. Trump did poorly in the Supreme Court in argued cases in which the United States, an executive department, an independent agency or the president himself was a party. He prevailed only 42 percent of the time, the lowest rate since at least Franklin D. Roosevelt's administration.
In other words, a fundamentally
conservative court, with a six-justice majority of Republican appointees that includes three named by Mr. Trump himself, had not been particularly receptive to his arguments. The Biden administration, by contrast, did somewhat better, landing on the winning side 54 percent of the time.

I know one person with a legitimate reason to have a seafood aversion (He was duct taped to a chair and force fed anchovies until he threw up as a child) but for everyone else it's fucking bogus.

a football player carries the ball to the 49 yard line, then the 50 yard line. however, after taking another step forward, he finds to his astonishment that he is once again at the 49 yard line. but how can this be? this is the grand riddle of football

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step. 1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish. 2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.

Now that I have been through all these stages, I understand this Douglas Adams quote a little better. Everyone is essentially correct: technology is normal and ordinary and new and exciting and against the natural order of things
“I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things.”

Will the NYT app ever realize that a celebrity death is not breaking news? I'm sorry. What am I saying. The death of the sixth lead from a middling 70s sitcom is obviously more important than the death of democracy.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

So the basic proposal, if I’m following correctly, is to wrench the whole American consumer economy back to Gilded Age protectionism by means of Executive fiat, right now, tonight, while Congress tries to relieve the tax burden on some rich people but everyone else goes on paying income taxes too.
