For every “we can”t” from DOT, there is often a factual proof that in fact you can. Today’s proof: we CAN take a lane from the west side highway.

It’s remarkable how many people can move on a street when those people don’t feel the need to always take a massive car with them. Mobility in cities is about space.
Busy European street with buses filled with people in a long line of people on bikes, waiting for the light to change in a separated, protected bike lane. Imagine if all those people or each in a separate car.

The amazing policy would be to require cash outs for any employees that don't use parking. Use it for transit, use it for mortgage/rent, whatever, but everyone chooses how they want to use it.

Reducing 6 lanes to 4 in America's most densely populated city! Reducing 4 lanes to 2 - preach! Cities really need to support their population by reducing the footprint of the private vehicle - which has been making the cities hotter, have worse air quality, and way too LOUD. Keep it coming!

One of the most important things in Hudson County in many years. JFK is Hudson County's Boulevard of Death. BRT would make JFK safer by: 1. Redesigning JFK to be safer for all road users 2. Shifting traffic to transit. Buses are *60X* safer per passenger mile than private cars. Be there!

Hell yeah. Let's get them off the BQE, out of our downtowns, oh and we need to invest in micro freight and blue highways. Hear me out - let's flip the incentives so it's cheaper and more efficient to transport goods without trucks. Consider Low Emissions Zones and Truck Appointment systems too.

i am genuinely bewildered by people who say that the rise of white nationalism in the republican party is a response to the "woke left." like, did the woke left cause pat buchanan's 1992 presidential campaign? is the woke left why steve king had a long career in congress?

I recently learned that there's 19K people driving daily on this road, and ~60K bus riders daily! Def seems like more space should be going to buses than cars given there are 3X more riders. Kudos to Hudson County for pursuing this project, it could be the largest BRT in the country outside of NYC.
