We may think that this is no longer true today. But 98 percent of private property, 856 million acres of it, in the United States is still owned by white Americans. In fact, just five white people own 9 million acres of rural property, which is one million more than all Black Americans own combined.

Today is October 1st, Treaty Day in Mi’kma’ki. October 1st was designated in the Peace and Friendship Treaty of 1752-53 as a day on which the Mi’kmaq and British would come together, receive gifts, and renew their friendship.

Watched a documentary last night called "Bitter Cane" that lays bare the United States's role in destroying the nation of Haiti through millitary occupation, supporting successive Haitian dictators and working with Haitian elites to exploit the population. Really drives home how fucked this is.
