Kind of highlights the absurdity of the entire fucking thing that you can ritualistically try to kill a person, fail at it, then send them to the hospital for life-saving medical care. What a cruel fucking joke.

The people who run our government are are obsessed with appearance, unfamiliar with blue collar work, and worship President McCheese
In a Facebook post, the American Federation of Government Employees TSA Council 100, the union that represents the officers, expressed concern over the agency's "consequential decision.
The ergonomic chairs, the union argued, provide safety and support for officers who stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
"TSA is treating this matter like it is a privilege, the union said in its statement. "It is not; it is basic safety and common decency for the workforce."

Voting for Mamdani was important. It got him elected. But staying organized - in unions, neighborhood clubs, affinity groups, DSA chapters and mutual aid groups - is what's letting him get stuff done, and stopping him from bailing on his promises as politically infeasible.

Which is to say, Big P politics matter, but to *make* them matter, we need a lot of small p politics. That means that democracy isn't something you do every couple of years with a ballot paper (though that's an important aspect of the process). Democracy is continuous.

From the Magna Carta to the Constitution to the Emancipation Proclamation to 19th Amendment, voting rights (what you might call "Big P" Politics) were always downstream of protests, riots, petitions, mass movements, strikes and good, old fashioned community organizing (that is, "small p" politics).

The reason they want more people to adopt chatbots is because that could theoretically create a new revenue stream by eliminating the need for marketing or advertising and just taking cash from brands/parties/etc to change what the chatbot tells the user.

If your goal is to push people to a product or service (or ideology!), you need to establish that AI is coming to these conclusions on its own, and therefore more trustworthy than someone with an obvious agenda. Chatbots can be leaned on by their owners, but most users don't know that.

For a long time I've wanted a sense of how trump has or hasn't interacted with chatbots (we know he posts a lot of slop sure). And this TIME anecdote about Grok arguably leading Trump into war is just extremely bracing
Since returning to office, Trump has marveled at AI’s capabilities. He is increasingly in thrall to the tech executives courting him. In December 2025, Elon Musk returned to the Oval Office for a clandestine meeting. Trump spent hours asking Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, questions about his presidency and legacy, according to an official present. At the time, Trump was ordering missile strikes against Venezuelan boats he alleged were smuggling drugs into the U.S. He asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Maduro. According to the official present, the chatbot responded that Maduro was a repressive and deeply unpopular dictator and that many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall. After Trump ordered the mission to seize Maduro, the following month, celebrations broke out in the streets. Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious.
