Had the ringing information about this Osprey that I photographed back on the 29th May - AS9 is a male Osprey originally ringed by Brian Etheridge on 12/7/2013 at a nest on Monadh Mor, Black Isle. It was one of a brood of two and the BTO ring number is 1447199. @btoscotland.bsky.social

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳

I cannot see a dead fish as a "conservation success". Bluefin tuna are still rare - they only avoid being technically endangered cos they stabilised at a tiny number. That's not a healthy population, just a stable one. Let them breed and really do well before you fish for them if you have to.

Grass Snakes are the only egg-laying UK snake, and August is a vulnerable time for incubation. If you have a compost heap, make sure you don't disturb any precious eggs which may have been laid there - as these are a favoured spot! 🐍🥚 📷© Derek Middleton
