Fixed Penalty Notice fines for fly-tipping offences in St Albans District are to be substantially increased to deter offenders. Maximum fines will rise from £1,000 to £3,000 and for duty of care offences, they will rise from £600 to £1,000. More info: www.stalbans.gov.uk/news/fines-b...

A refuse collection crew prevented a fire caused by a battery placed in a waste bin from getting out of control. It is believed the cause was a battery within electrical equipment which had been disposed of incorrectly in a household waste bin. More: www.stalbans.gov.uk/news/battery...

We’re pleased to confirm that the Splash Park at Verulamium Park has reopened today - Monday 6 July - operating daily from 10am to 6pm. It will be open every day, weather permitting, until Wednesday 2 September.

Waste and recycling collections will be one day later next week due to the Early May Bank Holiday on Monday 4 May. Monday's collection will take place on Tuesday and so on. Normal collections will resume on Monday 11 May 2026.
