For this evening’s #WildflowerHour, one that’s new to us and found growing on the drive. Scutellaria altissima, Somerset Skullcap. A very pretty little flower.

My favourite flower of the week was this tiny (and rather appropriately named) Small Scabious. Perched up on an exposed plateau at Tout Quarry, Portland, the stem of this diminutive specimen was just 1.5cm tall (about the width of my finger) topped with a gorgeous purple flower. 💜 #wildflowerhour

Strolling to post a parcel, I noticed orange hawkweed strewn among a grassy patch on the side of the road. Vibrant, full of life - waving me on my way. Orange is often associated with autumn, but I think it holds its own in any season 🌼🍁 #BloomScrolling #WildflowerHour #BritishWildflowers
Small, vibrant flowers - visually similar to daisies, but bright orange - burst into the bottom left corner of the frame. Long overgrown grass, a lush green, fills the rest of the frame

For the #wildflowerhour challenge a couple of weeks ago, I was very taken with the #seedheads of Agrimony. On Thursday they caught my eye again. Now deep red to brown - still beautiful but the dry brown ones are now ready to travel and these hooked burrs seem particularly attracted to my socks! 😂

After a #WildflowerID check on this one. Taken in dodgy light this evening in my mother's garden. It's growing near to where her bird seed feeder used to be so it's probably grown from bird seed. She's curious as to what it is. A bit of research suggests possibly Common Amaranth? #WildflowerHour
