It's officially pumpkin season, which happens to be a special treat for our ambassador wolves this time of year! 🎃🐺 Although wolves are classified as carnivores, they can sometimes have an omnivorous diet. Along with meat and eggs, wolves may also enjoy fruits like pumpkins. #wolffact

If you want to prove this stuff is useful, it would feel less icky if you acknowledge the big issues upfront. There are valid reasons to hate this tech, and if you think more people should be on board maybe work on dismantling those issues before complaining that people just want to hate ai

I keep seeing people throw out the term "Covid Correction" for the mass layoffs we continue to see in the games industry. We're beyond that. It's far beyond the mass hiring during Covid. It's mismanagement, poor trend chasing, cuts of departments to use AI (not as much but happening), etc.

Seeing people post about how unfair the “mob justice” against the Cornell rapists is doesn’t really move me when there is no justice for survivors. The system doesn’t work; it enacts further punishment on the victims. Society is even crueler. So spare me the “mob justice” rhetoric about the accused

A truly heinous man has doxxed the Cornell victim on X and the comments are predictably vile. Based on countless interviews I’ve done with survivors, the trauma they are subjected to for coming forward is oftentimes even worse than the initial trauma they experienced. There is no real justice system

Ignoring that it's the absolute baseline of a humane response, hell, even if you're the most callous institution, you refund it for no other reason than the first step in making the "problem" go away is allowing her to physically move on. Jesus, someone really wanted to punish her for this happening

The backlash is more revealing than the ad. USDA data show 54% of Arkansas SNAP households had a non-Hispanic white household head. So portraying a white recipient is hardly unrealistic. Complaining that the “wrong race” was cast says quite a bit.

I mean we saw this in the first term where people were doing “oh he would have won if not for COVID” - COVID was good for incumbents everywhere else! The issue wasn’t COVID, it was the admin response to COVID, which was the entirely natural result of how Trump operates

Yup, absolutely. I think it’s wrong to treat the Iran War as simply one bad error that happened to the Trump Admin rather than the entirely logical consequence of the way it operates. If it wasn’t Iran, it would almost certainly have been something else

Happy Michaelmas! In some parts of Ireland on this day, rent could be paid in geese. If you’re due to pay rent this month, please consider setting a very irritated goose on your landlord in lieu of payment, in the name of upholding important Irish traditions.
A drawing of mine of a goose looking concerned, with a tag around its neck that reads "This month's rent, with thanks".

Some comp titles for my forthcoming epic fantasy/folk fantasy novel to get you intrigued.
An array of comp title covers on a parchment-like background. The banner above it reads: “The Hearkener’s Song” in a calligraphic script and has two birds, a male cardinal and a peregrine falcon, perched on its edges. Below that are the words “Some Comp Titles” in a wine-red, Medieval-esque script.

Left to right, top to bottom:
A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay
Shapechanger’s Song by Jennifer Roberson
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
The Green Knight translated by Bernard O’Donaghue
Assassın’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb
A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
ElfQuest, Book 2 by Wendy and Richard Pini
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten
The Naming by Alison Croggon
Wolf Moon by Charles de Lint

It's fine if people don't want to have liberal arts education. Go ahead, have large gaps in understanding the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Live your life ignorant, incomplete, undeveloped, inadequate. You have the right to be a worse citizen, a shallow dullard, a lesser person.

I'll support AOC whatever she decides to do, but Democrats *need* a serious, unapologetic progressive to run in the presidential primary to pull the field to the left. Without one, we'll have Newsom, Buttigieg and Cory Booker trying to out-centrist each other and it will be a disaster.
