The correct title would be like "Towards a game engine for the AI Generation" basically noting that it's an engine built in the age of AI and they're using it to help track down bugs, improve testing and work with its codebase. I don't love that stuff but it's a world away from GenAI.

EG fell for it too. :( The Capcom presentation contains a slide with "AI世代のゲームエンジンへ" - the article omits the "へ", for one, but the issue is that while 世代 means 'generation', it's in the 'console generation' sense, not like GenAI. Without へ, translation software gets it totally wrong.

It's been such a long few years, I'd forgotten this particular rape accusation against Hegseth. The woman told police she may have been drugged. Hegseth, who was married to one woman and had just had a baby with another, said it was consensual but paid her $50k to settle. He was confirmed anyway.

That can't be it, either, because orchestra boards are mostly made up of people who don't work in the arts. They would have no reason to develop such a bone-deep conviction that the industry they serve is uniquely doomed to failure... unless someone was telling them so.

Because it turns out that a lot of the fiscal doubletalk that surrounds US/UK orchestras - the obsession with Baumol's cost disease; the fatalist evangelizing about The Death Of Classical Music - barely comes up in other corners of the classical industry, even the eternally struggling corners.

Imagine my surprise when I became an arts leader in a different corner of the music world and started talking with my own board leaders, and leaders in other non-orchestra music orgs. This seems like such common sense when you actually look at any arts nonprofit balance sheet, and yet, the resistance to its basic truth is so prevalent and so visceral among many of the people who lead orchestras in the US (and the UK) that I used to assume that all arts leaders were this way.

There is no shortcut. There is no one neat trick. Orchestras have been around for hundreds of years, and if there was a sustainability silver bullet, we would have found it by now. Sustainability is found in never, ever taking your foot off the gas, either artistically or financially.

That really is the beginning and the end of it. If you want to have big-time symphony orchestras - and by the way, nothing says you HAVE to have one - you need to understand that they are enormously expensive and employ hundreds of highly skilled people who will need to earn a living.

I used to feel like half my time as an orchestra musician was spent patiently explaining, over and over, that no, orchestras have never in history paid for themselves through ticket sales; no, cutting concerts or auxiliary trumpets won't balance the books; YOU JUST HAVE TO RAISE THE MONEY.

I def don't have all the answers as to why there is such a persistent crisis/lull cycle in US orchestras, but one thing I do know from my 25 years at the high end of that business is that WAY too many execs and board leaders are convinced there is a magic sustainability formula hiding somewhere.

level 1 in particular is so broad that literally everything falls into level 1 minimum. used a spell checker? AI. post-processing filters? AI. any sort of after-effects? AI. autocompleted something in visual studio? AI. i'm in favor of a system like this but this is way too broad to be useful

i've learned that this system puts arc raiders, the alters and crazy taxi in level 2, when those games make pretty extensive use of generative AI tools, and in the case of the alters included chatgpt prompts wholesale in the final game. as i said, deeply unserious
