Every single time iOS updates my aged parents get confronted with a prompt for a pwd they’ve forgotten, think their iPad is broken, and phone me to tell me they won’t be able to FaceTime me anymore. Apple’s accessibility is genuinely shocking.

It's fascinating to me how many people in the SFF literary sphere - including professional critics & scholars who should know better - assess adaptations primarily as successes & failures of reading rather than separate texts w/ their own aims, which Gerwig's The Magician's Nephew clearly is.

I do want to point out that of the 8 episodes of Carrie, 5 were written by women, 1 was written by a non-binary person, 2 were written by Flanagan himself. Additionally 4 of the 8 episodes were directed by women, with the other 4 directed by Flanagan himself.

BSG's final season was poor, but the final episode made me so angry I didn't sleep all night. Lost, obvs. Walking Dead - bailed 1st ep of S4. Vikings - once Ragnar died it bled out slowly & I was so bored I didn't even watch the final few episodes but I retain appreciation for the good bits.

Mayday. Ryan Reynolds' schtick's getting tired, but this is a solid 3* movie. Ken Branagh is genuinely funny throughout - & a surprisingly credible action hero. Perfect if you're awake at 5am coz the music in your head is so loud it's keeping you awake & you need to silence it, as I often do, dammit

Readers will allow you exactly one absurd coincidence or happenstance per book, but only if you use it to *initiate* the story, never to *resolve* it. Reacher is like The Saint, constantly stumbling into situations by chance but readers give that ridiculous chance a pass coz it’s the price of entry.
