Only 5 more days until The Supernatural Adventures of Lady & Lord Riven are complete! If you haven't caught up yet on the first two cozy-spooky novellas in the trio, grab them now: books2read.com/undeadInconvenience books2read.com/honeymoonGrave #romancelandia
The cover of A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience shows an ominously closed entrance-gate at the top of the cover and a bat with its wings outspread at the bottom, all framed by climbing roses. Above and beside it is this snippet from the story:
“I am not suffering from dementia, Miss Dunhaven.” Red swept in a sudden, sheening wave across the vampire’s brown eyes, making Margaret suck in a breath, as he sliced out his words with a lethal edge. “You gravely misunderstand me if you think me de-fanged.”

“And you mis-name me, my lord.” Her hand tightened around the handle of her teacup. “As I believe you are fully aware, my name is ‘Lady Riven’ now.”

Lord Riven’s red-sheened eyes narrowed.

She bared a ferocious smile in response. The illustrated cover for A Honeymoon of Grave Consequence, by Stephanie Burgis, shows the silhouette of an elegant traveling carriage over the title and a bat with wings outstretched underneath, all of it framed by apples and with mirrors at the top and the bottom of the image. Above and beside the cover is this snippet of text:
A scorching kiss against the sensitive nape of her bare neck made her gasp and instinctively arch her back against him, and his voice deepened into a low rumble against her skin. “My dear, you may never care for small talk, but when you talk about your passions, you glow.”
“Now you’re being absurd.” Her words were breathless. The scene in the mirror before her—her mouth opening in a soundless moan, her body arching tautly against what appeared to be nothing but air behind her, even as physical sensation overwhelmed her—was so fantastical that it felt dreamlike, as if she really were being ravished by an invisible spirit...or merely imagining this whole vivid experience.
But her husband’s hands were solid and real as they slid down her back to curve around her waist, and his breath caressed her skin as he worked his way around the base of her neck. “Just look at yourself now,” he murmured. “See the woman I see.”

Anyone who sells you a tool that promises to outsource the work of your relationships, or the loving tasks of connecting to our friends and family, is someone who is trying to rob you of your own humanity. For god's sake. Say no to this. Say no to all of it.

The image is of a four panel comic.
In the first panel, we see a pair of ghosts. The first ghost says, “Let us make love, my darling.”
In the second panel, we see see the second ghost’s face, blushing. It says, “Here? In public?”
In the third panel, we again see the pair of ghosts together. The first one says, “No one can see us, we’re ghosts!”
In the fourth panel, the title reads “the cat”. We see a cat looking up at them.

Petition: Take urgent action so those with Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis in Wales are no longer left without vital medical care
Service provision for people with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) remains inconsistent across Wales. In particular, major concerns persist regarding access for those with the severe form of the condition, leaving some families facing life-impacting decisions, without medical guidance. Sufferers are confined to dark rooms, require 24/7 care, some unable to speak, feed themselves, tolerate light or sound, or even sit up. Proposed actions will ensure people with Severe ME can safely access evidence-informed medical care and improve their chances of recovery.

Three paperbacks are laid across a steel-grey woollen blanket: Ali Hazelwood's Bound/Unbound: A Novella Duology, the Twelve Loves of Christmas anthology (with the description on the front reading Count down to Christmas with twelve sealed love stories) and Anna Kopp and Gabrielle Kari's graphic novel The Marble Queen. This photo shows Steph holding open her copy of Twelve Loves of Christmas to show the page header that reads Day 1 - and the angle of the photo shows that Day 1's story is sealed with a sticker, as are (separately) each of the other twelve stories, so that the reader can un-seal and read one per day for the twelve days of Christmas.

This review captures exactly what I wanted to do with this book! The story is, in fact, both "brazenly, joyfully silly" and "about what it means to live in community and how we can (and should) show up for each other," and Hamilton's recognition of that duality is immensely heartening for me. 💕

Framing the cover's text are branches with golden leaves. Above, beside, and below that cover image is this snippet of text: She whirled the cloak around her shoulders, fastening the silver laces around her throat.
“Good God!” Lord Riven lunged forward, uncharacteristic panic contorting his patrician features.
Margaret clasped his closest reaching hand reassuringly in hers. “I’m fine,” she said firmly. “What do you see when you look at me?”
“Nothing.” His voice steadied, but his brown eyes still looked wide and half-wild. “Absolutely nothing! I can feel your hand now, but otherwise...” His grip tightened. “I would swear the chair was empty and I had lost you.”
“Astonishing.” Keeping his hand in hers, she stood and pushed her chair away from the table, turning in as much of a circle as she could without releasing him. “And now?”
“Still nothing,” he said grimly. “If you wouldn’t mind removing it, my love? Rather quickly, if you please, for the sake of my nerves.”

It's book quote Wednesday. Today the word is "push", and we're back with Nik Thorn in his least-favourite and yet somehow also favourite bar. From Nectar for the God. #bookQW books2read.com/NectarGod
Promo image for Nectar for the God by Patrick Samphire, showing the cover of the book and the accompanying text:

I made my way down the steps, pushed the door open, and stumbled into the poorly-lit interior. To say Dumonoc was cheap was like saying that a volcano was warm; it wasn’t wrong, but it didn’t exactly capture the essence of the situation. The interior was almost entirely dark, other than the bar and a couple of flickering candles at shadowed tables, and Dumonoc didn’t provide those. If you wanted light, you brought your own. Most people didn’t bother. Probably so they wouldn’t have to see what was floating in the beer.

It’s a Victorian-esque cozy, romantic fantasy with magical creatures and a female main character who is one of my all-time faves. She just wants to do her research and avoid people and admire her handsome vampire husband and yet she keeps getting pulled into these Situations™. Delightful! It comes out next week, so get your preorders in!

The long-awaited new book—with gorgeous, all-new art—by Brian Froud, the "grandfather of faerie art"

In this compelling collection, acclaimed women writers from around the world share words and stories of fantasy and myth alongside Brian Froud's provocative portraits of more than 70 Green Women. There are a range of voices, some humorous and witty, others nurturing and maternal, others dark and threatening.

New York Times bestselling and award-winning artist Brian Froud, who brought to life Trolls and Faeries, is also beloved for his conceptual design work with Jim Henson on the classic films The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. With Green Women, his gorgeous art illuminates an entirely new universe.

Open the pages of this gorgeous gift-ready book to meet the Green Women.

"While the Green Men peer down from their church roof bosses, and through their tendrils of oak and ivy, the Green Women move among us. Brian Froud has met more than a few of them. It's their eyes—deep wells of wisdom, stories and the slow, ancient song of the forest." —Alan Lee, artist and concept designer of the film adaptations of J.R.R. Only 8 more days until A Waltz of Sinister Import will complete The Supernatural Adventures of Lady & Lord Riven! If you haven't read the 1st 2 cozy-spooky romantasy novellas yet, grab them in ebook & paperback now. Start with A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience: books2read.com/undeadInconvenience
The cover of A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience shows an ominously closed entrance-gate at the top of the cover and a bat with its wings outspread. Beside it is this text: Growling, Margaret turned to her much larger husband. “Are you strong enough to break this door down?”
He shrugged. “Perhaps, but I wouldn’t be able to enter the house afterwards. If you recall, I am held under a code.”
“Ugh.” Of course. As per the Bosworth Accords, vampires were not allowed to enter any mortal residence without an invitation. “I could invite you once I was inside,” Margaret pointed out.
Lord Riven looked pained. “That might suffice—with an extraordinarily lenient judge—but have you considered trying a tediously obvious strategy first?” As she gazed back at him in confusion, his lips quirked. “Here.” Stepping up to her side, he rapped on the door, producing two loud, authoritative knocks.
Footsteps sounded from within a moment later, and Lord Riven smiled down at her with disconcerting tenderness. “You see? I do have some uses after all.”
