Mayday. Ryan Reynolds' schtick's getting tired, but this is a solid 3* movie. Ken Branagh is genuinely funny throughout - & a surprisingly credible action hero. Perfect if you're awake at 5am coz the music in your head is so loud it's keeping you awake & you need to silence it, as I often do, dammit

Yesterday I got to show my son one of my favourite films, Night of the Hunter, & watch his reaction (he's a film student & was gobsmacked). Then he showed me one of *his* favourite movies, Oldboy, & then got to watch me try to scrub my brain clean with bleach. Good day :-)
