I talked with my department head and he calmed me down about the AI intrusion and said he would fight it if they tried to downsize our department, and warn us if that was a possibility. He was actually surprised i was worried.I’ve known him for years and I trust him enough to be reassured

Sometimes I watch videos where younger people react to stuff I watched when I was a kid, and without fail, some dumbass in the comments says that older tv was good because it wasn’t pc or woke, and I’m like “motherfucker, GOLDEN GIRLS was not anti-woke and you’d hate it if it was made today.”

I'm studying biotech and every time someone brings up mushrooms our current professeor will look either extremely excited or pained and go, "listen, mushrooms are neither plants nor animals nor something inbetween. We do not know what they are. Some are immortal. Some produce life-saving substances some are so closely related to humans that eating them may cause an allergic reaction against your own body. I cannot teach you about the mushrooms.
