It's despicable, but among the reasons being an anti trans Dem (or throwing anyone under the bus) is a bad idea politically is the damage is permanent. Even if she heel turns her position and apologizes, I can never trust Marcy Kaptur again. Alienating an entire demographic has a cost that adds up.

They restricted these surveys in multiple states in the last few years. States moved to require opt in with parental consent to administer the surveys. Then the CDC stopped reporting data about gender identity in 2025. Given the broader anti LGBTQ hostility it's not a surprise numbers declined.

I am former Campaign Staff for 2 Democractic Congressional Campaigns. I've volunteered for a state house campaign. I've been out as a street medic and safety marshal. I've finally organized my first rally. I've spoken at multiple events and fought for my community for near on 10 years now.
