it is extremely ironic that, even for the guys deputized as a roving secret police to kill other Americans basically at their leisure, the highest form of existence they can conceive of and project is still basically “lifestyle influencer”. Everyone wants to be a fucking Content Creator

dc statehood is non-negotiable after trump's actions in his second term. republicans despise the people of the city that hosts them, and there is little reason to think that, now that the seal is broken on treating them as an occupied population, a next republican president will be more restrained

I think two things can be true: intentional cruelty even with zero external stakes is a self-corrupting exercise, thus it’s a duty to ourselves and loved ones to avoid. And also Anthropic is weaponizing a real philosophical question cynically to drum up mystique for their stupid slop engine

I'm seriously considering taking legal action against Pokemon. It's disgusting that they didn't share exact print numbers, pull rates, and how big the supply truly is. They overhyped the set, making us secondary distributors the victims of their marketing. Honestly, this could be a RICO violation if we find that they purposefully did this to take money out of our pockets. No one has supported Pokemon more in the past than us, helping distribute the product at fair market value instead of underpriced MSRP. Reached out to a few attorneys already, if you want to get in just DM me. 30th Anniversary? This was the last straw.

"the journalist and novelist are no more important than each other" is the easy case. Do you see journalism as more important than fruit picking, than canning, than sewing usable clothes? The belief in "higher" forms of labor is reactionary and people hate admitting it

This is the kind of stuff I'm talking about. "Programming is art and art is the most human thing ever" okay so is working at a cannery or being a mechanic also "art" or is it not? If your principles hinge on this I think that's an important question blog.glyph.im/2026/10/prog...

Fundamentally, the answers all actually start with "how are we treating each other, real people, who have needs and are asking for help at this time?" The theory-morality-question is useless as masked men kidnap people off the streets, police shoot people, and all of our bills skyrocket.

It's not worth talking about theoretical future tech that might be conscious; that's not what this is & billionaires are destroying lives & ecosystem with tech now. It's not worth talking about the moral question of how we treat future machine life right now bc real human life is being harmed now.

The problem with people trying to make nuanced idea arguments about AI is that we're not in that place. It's like talking future building safety while the current building is on fire. All it's doing is slowing down the efforts to evacuate to safety & put out the fire, now.

"never again" has been used to signify both "no more genocide" and "next time i'm gonna be the one holding the gun" pretty much since it was coined (and doubly so after kahane touched it) this is not that hard to disentangle, but most people don't know that they should even try

the answer to the question is poetically simple: a land without pogroms cannot be built out of pogroms a land without genocide cannot be built via genocide this better future may arise from the ashes of genocide, if people work hard at it but never by the hand that happily perpetuates genocide

All arguments in favor of Windows over Linux are one of these: 1. Still need Photoshop or whatever (the valid one) 2. Based on decade-old info and/or jokes 3. Blaming issues with Linux on Linux users while treating the same issues on Windows as an unpleasant inevitability, like wasps or earthquakes

How fast will this come to a public school near you
A U.S. charity in Gaza is worried that teachers at its schools might stray from a curriculum it says promotes peace and tolerance, so it plans to record classroom conversations and use artificial intelligence to flag speech deemed “hateful” or “inciting.”

The plans laid out by the founder of the Gaza Children Village in a webinar last month have elicited ethical, safety and privacy concerns from some Palestinian and advocacy groups and at least one of the charity’s partners.

There is no indication the charity intends to share its classrooms’ recordings with anybody else, but fears about the potential misuse of surveillance technology are heightened in Gaza after three years of war. The Israeli military has used AI to sift through intercepted communications and find suspicious speech, including to identify targets for strikes.

We’ve been collectively watching summary public executions on our streets for years, since the advent of phone cameras. But those were incidental spectacles, not designed to be seen. This one’s deliberate. So are the summary executions by ICE death squads. They want to terrorize us.
