I've always hated the "Linux users being mean is why people don't switch" rhetoric because like, if asking a question online about why your computer dont work and getting shitty asshole answers was a real barrier of entry then nobody would be using windows or macos either.

This is extremely funny because one of these fits absolutely fucking nails it, completely spot on, and the other looks like a Nigerian who lives in Scotland trying to be a southern American for Halloween

A Reddit post headed "As a Nigerian living in Scotland, this is how I imagine Americans from the South dress based on the movies I’ve watched lol. Which of the shirts is better?"

The attached photo is a Black man in a cap and a green and blue checked shirt tucked into bright blue pre-washed jeans.

Exact same fit as in the previous photo, but with a red and blue checked shirt.

All the characters I've seen from Deadlock look so cool. I wish they were in God's genre for big piles of cool characters (a fighting game) instead

The new art trend is weird for a bunch of reasons, but mostly because about half the drawings I see are literally just Diana Cavendish and, like, it's totally OK to just draw Diana Cavendish.

Oh so I get flamed for recommending Suicide (the album/band), as if half my goth friends back in the day didn't have "FrankieTeardrop" in their email addresses, but any other blowjob can log on and say it's okay to wear khaki shorts to the club because Real Goth is only about the music?

Sure, I can make a distinction between MiSTer cores that are pure vibe coded MAME ports vs. ones that use some mix of LLM and human engineering, but the whole promise of the MiSTer that excited me was reproductions of hardware from sickos who were decapping ICs, not "good enough" emulation on FPGAs

Any attempts to engage me about a major pop act have fallen flat since I was a teen because I was, like, a black metal demo tape, imported punk 7" guy. Outlets like Rolling Stone have to be hard up now that everybody is like that. Just begging for everyone to know the same stuff again

I should whip out the GB Cameras again now that getting the photos off them only requires copying the save over to a flash cart with a USB port. ("only" is relative to how I used to do it: buying a shitty old laptop with a SCSI port off ebay because the only converter you could get required one)

I've been thinking about this post for four days because it's extremely true, and because there are clear reasons why it's true, but it's impossible to express them to people who don't already understand them without making the kind of post that gets passed around like the Rick & Morty high IQ guy

Sometimes I come across a hidden reply from a user I have muted and don't remember why I muted them. If their profile pic is an anime catgirl I figure they're due another chance and unmute. If it's a photo of them IRL facing the camera, I leave them muted in absolute certainty that they deserve it

Even knowing it's popularly called "Vancian magic," I was stunned to actually read Vance and discover how much of the classic D&D magic system is taken straight out of his pages, down to spell levels and slots. It feels so intrinsically game-y after decades of D&D and other games influenced by it
