Busily working away on my lecture and article about Rights of Way in England and Wales. In 1949, counties were asked to compile maps within three years. Here's how far they'd got by 1967 (!) The preponderance of rural Wales among the slowcoaches is interesting.

I also think the collective tenor of narratives of navigating deindustrialisation at a family level which was palpable from these narratives is strongly demonstrative of why the household economy should be central to contemporary economic history.
