What you're saying when you say "DEI" when universities say "EDI" (as happens here) and vice versa. And why it actually matters. The great majority of UK (esp. British) universities use "EDI" while US universities use "DEI". Is that "just" semantic, or does it matter? A thread. 🧵1/8

Recently, FamilySearch digitized and uploaded tons of microfilmed records, including many from 18th-century Massachsuetts. They're using some sort of AI to transcribe/summarize the handwritten documents. I've noticed that the AI strips out references to race and enslavement in 18thc documents.

This card was given to Kate Frye at the Women's Freedom League 'Green, White and Gold Fair', held in Caxton Hall, London, in April 1909. She then preserved it within the pages of her fabulous diary (now held by by Royal Holloway College Archives) . At this time Kate was a member of the constitutional London Society for Women's Suffrage but was happy to offer her varied services to other societies - such as the WFL.
