i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

I have a religious exemption from using all generative “A.I.” I am not a member of the Silicon Valley sect. Their beliefs and practices are an affront to my sensibilities. The tech is trained on stolen intellectual property. The output is riddled with mistakes, and it is incapable of comprehending the weight of its errors. It is not even an “it.” But sometimes, it is filtered and massaged by unaccountable human sweatshop workers and bad actors. I am not required to use “A.I.” any more than I am required to join Amway, buy black market rhino horn, or attend the Fyre Festival. As a human, I have a duty and right to limit my carbon and water footprint and protect my fellow human. As a union worker, I have a duty and right to oppose tech that is used to threaten workers or cheapen our product. As a tech consumer, I have a duty and right to oppose scams that lower the quality of our tools. As a scholar, I have a duty and right to oppose anti-intellectualism. As a taxpayer, I have a duty and right to oppose the misallocation of public funds and data. As a grown up, I have a duty and right to protect young people from predators. As a person with a conscience, I am appalled at the decadent disregard for user safety, the callous dismissal of responsibility for lives ruined and slaughtered. My religion is related to my identity, geography, and family, making it an irrelevant accident of birth. What matters is that I was born. I have an exemption from their digital rapture, their cultural austerity, their intellectual poverty. I practice wholesome hedonism and First Do No Harm.

Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (NDS) (2011) 1/10 You've probably noticed that I love the look of this gorgeous game, though I haven't even touched upon all the cool ingame cutscenes and boss fights since that would take me like a week to capture, so here's lots of colorful locales, hope you enjoy! 🙌

A beautiful grand adventure and a spiritual successor to Tail Concerto, set in the Shepherd Republic, made out of multiple sky islands scattered around a large area, populated by anthropomorphic dogs and cats, called Caninu and Felineko respectively, talking French and having adorable names like Chocolat Gelato.

We follow the exploits of Red Savarin, a Hunter, doing odd jobs and quests, accompanied by the aforementioned Chocolat Gelato, his adoptive sister as they fly the airship Asmodeus, going on a mission to get some stolen documents and get thrust into an epic adventure.

Here we have Red piloting his trusty Dahak mech, a bipedal robot with long dangly arms like the Robot Troopers from Laputa: Castle in the Sky with an open seat so the pilot is fully visible and exposed, like here with Red running around the white sky docks of Airedale, a beautiful sky island full of small houses built upon a central hill, full of trees, floating ships and birds flying over.

It would be an understatement to call this game gorgeous, it's one of the most beautiful games on the Nintendo DS system, with a beautiful anime opening by studio Madhouse and designs, visuals and story worthy of the best PS1 RPGs, it's just a joyful experience with lots of colorful characters and an epic story, so give it a shot if you haven't played it!

The fungal forest of Vizsla, a sky island covered in "fungi dandelions", large yellow shrooms as a curvy wooden bridge leads Red to a giant Ladyshroom, a friendly red ladybug creature.

Deep orange skies glowing over the mishmash of metal parts and flimsy stairs on the floating island of Basset, made out of wrecked airships and other machines, with birds flying under the tall metal pillars barely holding the walkways together.

The capital city of Pharaoh, one of those typical quaint cities that show what Japanese people think the entirety of Europe looks like, with clock towers, train stations and residential buildings rising around a long cobblestone path with staircases leading downward, populated by lots of puppydog people, all curiously 2D drawn in wonderful pixel art fashion while Red in his mech is fully 3D.
