Since Elon Musk seems to hate this documentary about him from one of my favorite non-fiction filmmakers, Alex Gibney, figured it was my duty to spread a link to the trailer so you can see it for yourself. ENJOY: loom.ly/oA2_-p8

There is no middle ground with the kind of people who attack the RNLI. We don’t need to ‘listen’ to them. We need to tell them where to go.

I want the Prime Minister to look into a TV camera and say the RNLI are heroes, that we do not change policy by street violence in this country, and that he expects any criminal action to face the full force of the law. That's it. That's all he has to do.

Were I the prime minister, right now the chief constable and police & crime commissioner for Kent would be in my office having a meeting strictly without tea or biscuits, and this evening I’d be doing a broadcast reassuring the nation that fascist mobs will not be tolerated on our streets.

Struggling to work out why Jenrick would single out these three Commonwealth countries rather than, say, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, whose citizens have exactly the same rights. It’s a head-scratcher.

No one had to think super hard about how to make a washing machine useful. A telephone. A vacuum cleaner. So why do our bosses have to constantly challenge us to find something, anything, for which AI might be helpful If your customers don’t find your product useful, that’s a you-problem

It's OK for criminal ex-neo Nazis to run your bins is a hell of a line.
Tweet from x.com by Kevin Schofield of HuffPost:

NEW: Kemi Badenoch says what former neo-Nazi Joshua Bonehill-Paine did was "appalling and abhorrent", suggests she wouldn't want him to be a Tory MP, but says it's OK for him to be a councillor because they only deal with things like "parking and putting out bins".

Reform have now lost six by-elections in a row in England, Scotland and Wales. Their national poll rating is 26% – below Labour in 1983 – and Farage’s approval rating is -37. They’re very far from the voice of the people and need to stop being treated as such.

Would anyone notice if Nandy resigned?
But others are sceptical of such a move because of the need to preserve government stability. The energy secretary, Ed Miliband, and the culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, are already on resignation watch, No 10 insiders said.

Social media is designed to capture human attention and children don’t have fully developed skills for combatting it. It’s not like TV at all and the platforms have shown little interest in the wellbeing of their users.

Could be wrong, but I wonder if we cue too much on the Space Race as a model for superpower tech competition? For two reasons: 1) Space tech has never been the most important tech. Media and the public have, since Sputnik imagined it matters more than it does compared to e.g. microelecctronics.

German SPD, Greens, and Linke will stop posting on X. An important step and signal. X and its owner have long become a megaphone for the far right, a venue that is actively used to encourage abuse and violence. It‘s simply shameful how many in politics, media, and academia still actively post there.

first in my bloodline to see someone get excommunicated by a community note
"Magataotao" on Twitter writes: "I am Catholic. This👇is not my Pope."

Attached is a video of the Pope saying that we should search for peace and reject war.

A community note under their tweet says: "You are not a Catholic if you do not accept the Pope, but rather a schismatic.

Canon 751: “Schism is the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff,” ie. the Pope.
