Bevor wir zur Sache kommen, eine Offenlegung, denn die gehört zu jedem ehrlichen Beitrag über künstliche Intelligenz: Die Ostdeutsche Medienholding arbeitet seit sechs Jahren systematisch mit KI.
Wir haben das nicht heimlich getan, nicht über Nacht, nicht im Graubereich. Jeden einzelnen Schritt – von der ersten automatisierten Verschlagwortung bis zur heutigen redaktionellen Nutzung großer Sprachmodelle – haben wir intern diskutiert, dokumentiert und in einer Policy verankert.
Diese Policy ruht auf klaren Grundsätzen, die sich in einem Satz zusammenfassen lassen: KI ist ein Instrument, der Mensch bleibt verantwortlich, und es gibt Grenzen, die nicht verhandelbar sind.

Die KI, der Holocaust und die Moral der Deutschen
Erlauben Sie mir an dieser Stelle eine Bemerkung, die manchen gegen den Strich gehen wird, die aber gesagt werden muss, weil sie einen der peinlichsten moralischen Knoten der aktuellen Debatte aufdröselt. Besonders empört reagierten Kommentatoren darauf, dass Voigt seine Rede zum Gedenken an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus, zum Jahrestag der Befreiung von Auschwitz, KI-generiert halten ließ. Aiko Kempen sprach davon, hier werde „Gedenken entleert“, der Politikberater Johannes Hillje von „moralisch äußerst zweifelhaften künstlichen Gedenkworten“.
Ich verstehe das Unbehagen, ich teile es in Teilen – und ich erlaube mir trotzdem, es vom Kopf auf die Füße zu stellen. Hinter den führenden KI-Unternehmen dieser Welt, hinter OpenAI, hinter Anthropic, hinter vielen anderen, stehen in entscheidenden Funktionen jüdische Gründer, Investoren und Forscher. Nachkommen jener Menschen also, derer Voigt erinnern wollte.
Ist es wirklich so absurd, zu fragen, ob es nicht moralisch eher angemessener ist, Gedenkworte mit Hilfe von Modellen zu formulieren, die in Unternehmen entstanden sind, die von Nachkommen der Opfer maßgeblich geprägt wurden, als sie ausschließlich von Nachkommen der Täter formulieren zu lassen? Ich stelle die Frage rhetorisch, sie hat keine saubere Antwort, aber sie zeigt, wie schnell die moralische Selbstgewissheit der KI-Kritiker ins Wanken gerät, sobald man die Perspektive auch nur leicht verschiebt.

I'm sorry, what? In writing my first monograph, I spent six weeks trying to track down a citation in TWO languages I didn't know. And good thing too, because the citation was wrong. That's scholarship. That's research. You know, the thing we're trained to do?!?

The reactions of some researchers on Twitter finally being held responsible for not having read the very paper they submitted are... something. Mainly, they don't think they should have to check every citation or make sure the data is real and accurate. Because it's too hard, I guess.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
