People pushing exclusionary ethnic definitions are very unlikely to be doing so out of pure academic interest. They want to start excluding people.

It’s just really annoying that now when people employ the trope of “you wouldn’t hit a man with glasses?” you have to respond with “what kind of glasses?” life was so much simpler in my day.

Some food for thought: The Companies Act 2006 makes it an offence for an officer to knowingly or recklessly give an auditor misleading, false or deceptive information (s.501), punishable by up to two years in prison. Fraud Act 2006 charges are also possible.

People finally realising that a fundamental problem with transformer-based AI is that it requires exponential increases in compute to generate linear increases in performance. Anyone who’s seriously worked with AI and ML models could have told you that about 5 years ago…*
Curve showing performance scores for GPT-6 Astra do not significantly improve with cost per task. Results for GPT-6.1 Sol are even worse, showing disimprovement with greater cost.

Reuters got some of the IPO docs. Anthropic is a total dog of a company. Spent $12.6bn to make $4.6bn in revenue in 2025, $7.33bn of which was compute costs. Operating loss of $8bn. Losses getting worse year over year. Amazing stuff www.reuters.com/business/fin...
Summary
Companies
• Anthropic IPO could value the company at more than $2
trillion
• Anthropic lost $42 billion in 2025
• Al lab spent $7.33 billion on compute and infrastructure last year
• Operating loss widened to $8.06 billion in 2025 from $2.98 billion in 2024
• Execs, industry analysts have expressed concerns over harms of Al tech
Sept 28 (Reuters) - Anthropic is making a massive bet that Al will transform the global economy more profoundly than industrialization, electricity and the internet, according to its IPO prospectus seen by Reuters.
But the cost to get there will be staggering. Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the
prospectus.

The problem here is that, in the cases of canals, railroads, power lines, highways etc., when the crash came the actual infrastructure remained valuable and useful. You’re probably still using some of that infrastructure even today. After the crash, most of the AI infrastructure will be worthless.

The FAI repeatedly told us players would be protected. Yet when a 24 year old acted on his conscience, they left him to stand alone & used a vote among his teammates to validate their own cowardice. This isn’t protecting a young player, it’s protecting themselves at his expense. #StopTheGame

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.
