My concern with this is we'll end up recreating the failed supply-side approach to disinformation while ignoring the far more significant demand side. First is recognising the relationship between institutions, publics, and counterpublics have changed significantly.

This is so disingenuous. "The kids are complaining about a lack of investment in schools but France's spending on education is actually the fifth highest in Europe." Yeah but 62% of that goes to the fucking private schools.
A bbc news briefing by Hugh Schofield.

"How France's education spending compares to other countries

Hugh Schofield
Paris Correspondent

The students are complaining about lack of investment in education, but how does France compare to other developed countries in the money it spends on schools and universities?

According to the European Union, France’s spending on education relative to GDP is the fifth highest in the EU27, behind Sweden, Finland, Belgium and Denmark.

The absolute amount it spends per student in education is just below the EU average.

According to the OECD, France spends close to the OECD average per student – but with strong differences depending on the age group.

It spends below the average for primary and lower secondary education. But it spends 24% more than the average for upper secondary – i.e. lycées."

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

10 years today, after a David vs Goliath FOI legal battle that damaged Alem Mathees, White et al were forced to release data from PACETrial (that cost UK taxpayers £5M) showing graded exercise therapy & CBT didn’t lead to an increased recovery rate for CFS. Please remind the world #MEcfs #PwME #CFS
Rethinking the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome-a reanalysis and evaluation of findings from a recent major trial of graded exercise and CBT

Abstract

Background: The PACE trial was a well-powered randomised trial designed to examine the efficacy of graded exercise therapy (GET) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for chronic fatigue syndrome. Reports concluded that both treatments were moderately effective, each leading to recovery in over a fifth of patients. However, the reported analyses did not consistently follow the procedures set out in the published protocol, and it is unclear whether the conclusions are fully justified by the evidence.

Methods: Here, we present results based on the original protocol-specified procedures. Data from a recent Freedom of Information request enabled us to closely approximate these procedures. We also evaluate the conclusions from the trial as a whole.

And this leads to the third harm: the physical damage caused by the system’s response to the illness.

When ME is not recognised as a serious biological disease, patients are often forced to exceed their limits. We have to spend our very limited energy proving our condition, attending procedures that are not adapted to our disability, fulfilling administrative and legal requirements, defending our access to social support, or repeatedly explaining our limitations.

For a person with ME, this effort is not harmless. It can worsen the disease itself.

This is the crucial point: patients with ME cannot wait for a cure before the harm stops.

This bit from The Times’ story on the killing of Bradley Townsend, a fisherman from Barnsley who volunteered for the Russian Army, leaves quite a lot out. Aiden Minnis is a former member of the National Front who was jailed for four years for a racist attack. "Another Briton”, indeed.
Aiden Minnis, another Briton enlisted with Russian forces, paid tribute to his friend on social media, saying he had "sacrificed his life for our cause".
