No bones, no brains, no teeth, fins, or even blood; in fact, jellies are mostly water. But they survive in oceans around the world and are mesmerizingly beautiful. Drift with the jellies at our Pacific Seas Aquarium.

The idea that the wealthy, the middle class, and the poor are all in completely separate housing markets with no overlap ignores how things work in the real world. In the absence of new high end housing, wealthy people outbid the middle class for the best available existing housing and renovate it.

Even before AI, I know of some teachers who were getting good results by "inverting" classes: Students would watch pre-recorded lectures at home, and then do "homework" in class, where active learning is both socially enforced and guided by a teacher who can help if a student hits a wall.

the most surprising part, which gets almost zero explanation in the story, is: "Citrus greening has been around for 120 years, and exists worldwide, and has, so far, caused an extinction-level event only in Florida." the story seems to vaguely gesture at excessive pesticides, but... explain that!

I hate the too-cool-for-school attitude of dismissing this with a "but they won't." That is surrendering in advance. The pressure should be put on them, the message should be unrelenting that this is what must be done and they're the ones refusing to do it. Don't act like they don't have agency.

Most people still don't understand what is coming in the world of energy. This graph should help but what would be good is to see this everywhere in the media so the public understood that what they think they know about renewable tech and EVs is not up to date.

Counterintuitively, in congested cities 20mph or lower speed limits actually speed up traffic because when vehicles are moving more slowly, the stopping space required between each one is smaller and so the capacity of any given road is higher
