This whole thing has been an interesting window into the gop post Trump — when you don’t have a gifted conman to organize the machine, you will see these cracks. The clip economy and digital spin room couldn’t pivot fast enough to account for Schmitt’s failure to deliver content.

Somehow not everyone is aware of fact alluded to below. So one more time: John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett were all on GWBush 2000 'Florida Recount' team. (Which made GWB first prez in 112 yrs to 'win' after losing popular vote. Now they 'impartially' rule on our future.)

Roberts is not a figure embarked on a principled project of expanding executive power who can be excused for being unable to predict how those principles later abused. The abuse is occurring in real time. Many of the requests for expanded power are coming from the abuser.

The Supreme Court’s majority gave no reason for its literal life-and-death decision to wipe out an appeals court order issued earlier today and which was, on its face, intended to be temporary in nature. Sotomayor wrote tonight’s dissent. Order and dissent: www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
The Court's decision to vacate that stay interferes with the Sixth Circuit's routine administrative handling of a capital case and unnecessarily prevents that court from giving due consideration to Pike's claim. Worse, the Court grants such extraordinary relief solely to allow the State to execute Pike before litigation over her conviction has properly run its course in the lower courts. I see no reason to short-circuit the ordinary process of appellate review, particularly in light of the grave consequences of an erroneous de-cision. Tennessee's desire to expedite Pike's execution by a few days or even weeks cannot outweigh her "fundamentalinterest in [her] own life." Tennessee v. Garner, 471 U. S. 1,
9 (1985).
In capital cases, "[a]ppreciation of our own fallibility, and respect for the judgment of an appellate tribunal," demand caution before "acting irretrievably." Bowersox v. Williams,
517 U. S. 345, 347 (1996) (Ginsburg, J., dissenting). Indeed, this Court often states that it is "'a court of review, not of first view?" McLane Co. v. EEOC, 581 U.S. 72, 85 (2017) (quoting Cutter v. Wilkinson, 544 U.S. 709, 718, n. 7
(2005)). Today, the Court, as it has too often lately, chooses to overlook that principle precisely when it matters most.

AI polling results can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes

In many cases, our AI poll took beliefs or attitudes that are reasonably common among a particular subgroup and portrayed them as nearly ubiquitous. For example, our AI poll would indicate that:

97% of Hispanic adults are at least somewhat likely to follow the World Cup (while the actual share is 43%).

This is a reminder that the fraternity system was created to oppose race and gender integration on college campuses. White men who wanted to keep their schools—and all the power that comes with college education—to themselves. It is not a coincidence that they are hotbeds of violence.

Let this sink in. Cornell University refused to refund Jane Doe's tuition the semester she was raped. Without this money, she could not transfer to another school. Essentially, she was forced to stay on campus where she saw those seven rapists frequently. Eventually she dropped out of college.

The DA should resign. Despite his attempts to hide it, this actually comes through even in his bullshit summary when you read it critically.
According to a transcript of the alleged victim's interview with campus
police, obtained by CBS New York's Mahsa Saeid from a source, Jane
Doe distinguished the initial sexual activity from what she says
happened later in the night.

She described drinking and using drugs the night of the alleged rape,
and said she had gaps in her memory, according to the transcript.

When asked whether she was OK with the initial encounter, she said,
"Yeah, as much as I can be because, again, I was super drunk when I
got there ... But I was pretty OK with all of this."

When describing what happened later in the night, the transcript says
Jane Doe said, "I can say with 100% confidence I was raped."
