Labour are the party of work. They believe work gives life value. If the Labour Party have a theory of freedom, it is that work makes you free. If you want to be free, the Labourite says "Get back to work!"

Without wanting to sound like a conspiracy theorist. It definitely seems like disabled, ADHD, Autistic people are being fitted up so they can be blamed for society's ills. Being disabled isn't "trendy" but journalists attacking disabled people definitely seems to be a new trend. 1/2

Whatever happens to Farage (not holding my breath for anything concrete), we're all living in his political reality now: hard Brexit, immigration the only topic of concern, every party now chasing hard right voters. If he has 'served his purpose' - it was to make the UK harder right than ever

One drawback to the consent-manufacturing machine going BRRRR is that everyone can hear that BRRRR, and because 2-3% of the population has ADHD and only 1% is diagnosed the sound of the consent manufacturing machine might double or triple the 'problem'. www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

A dumbass post saying: There has to be some differentiation in how patients are diagnosed, treated, and most importantly labelled. The same applies to autism, which has hugely varied impacts, from mild social impairment, to non-verbal and requiring full-time care.

This is right IMO. The reason why we see increased diagnosis is because society (capitalism) is increasingly reliant on conformity, narrowing the range of what counts as "normal" - if you are sufficiently different, you are disabled. @drrobertchapman.bsky.social has written a book about it.

The ADHD conspiracy and the gender critical movement and the Prof Arday story and the crackdown on disability support are all the same story. There is a default ideal human: a cishet non-disabled white male. The further you deviate from that ideal, the more suspect you become.

It wasn’t one-for-one but the big deal of the Thatcherite consensus was broadly: give up collective bargaining and secure employment, and you’ll get cheap consumer goods, lower bills, social mobility, social liberalism and maybe you’ll own a house. Somebody has broken the contract. Was it you?
