I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Carney is truly the Reagan of Canada. A calming, paternalistic figure in a period of apocalyptic uncertainty who galvanizes the economy with short-sighted right wing fiscal policies. And like Reagan, every disaster that Canada encounters in the future will be traceable to his administration.

“If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’” crazy how much Mamdani speaks my language

One of the saddest aspects about living in the U.S. during current Federal fascism is how clearly bored so many people are. Bored and feeling profoundly powerless. How else can the daily social media pile-ons for every and anything be explained?

A reminder Carney's agenda remains a militaristic climate killing and antidemocratic one. He will use all this to further and even expand this agenda. We still need to fight him on this.

There is no actual advantage to having a one-to-one tutor. The research behind it is like one study and there are so many different benefits from group work and being in class.

I don't know every industry but training an ML algorithm for radiology, maintaining it, getting the medical data for it all and then doing studies is incredibly expensive. Then getting hospitals or insitutions to buy it and then getting medical professionals to use it and is incredibly difficult.

The funny thing is that ML in radiology has widely failed because of the difficulty of implementing it. The entire field is niche and not widely profitable.

It doesn't even work well to find cancer before doctors. The pitch AI radiology companies make is with the most obvious mistakes possible and radiologists don't find it that useful as they either over-rely on it or don't rely on it at all.

To be blunt, America supported South Korean dictatorships for decades and even when they committed massacres. Biden was best friends with Yoon who attemptd a self-coup to return to those dictatorships. Reducing military exercises and reliance on America is a left-wing position in South Korea.

"Our South Korea." Interesting wording there! Oh and America was fine with South Korea being a military dictatorship for decades and provided military support during multiple massacres.

Scaling back military exercises is a rational decision that Trump has arrived at for the wrong reasons so of course liberals are going into right-winger mode and sounding like birchers.

Some people have memories longer than a goldfish. The employees demanded that the magazine be owned by them with him as an equal and he declined. They weren't collective bargaining or organizing and demanding that someone step down as a leader is not something to be taken lightly.

See also the term "activist scholar," which is applied derogatorily to academics who use their expertise to advocate for Left-leaning policy, but not to Right-leaning academics, even if they take money from Right-wing groups or advocate for Right-wing causes based on dubious evidence or none at all.

The modern era is full of the bizarre argumentative phenomenon of aggressive fragility. Instead of puffing oneself up as strong, one posits oneself as glass-doll weak, such that any opposition (any talk one dislikes existing) is to be seen as unethical attack. Literally pathetic.

Another underreported atrocity is that there is evidence that UN soldiers had orders to fire on anyone wearing white ie: civilian refugees during the war. A Canadian war memoir even explicitly mentions receiving orders to fire on civilians.

Updated with comment from LinkedIn executive. The button will help train LinkedIn's models for identifying AI slop www.404media.co/linkedin-int...
After publication of this piece, Hari Srinivasan, chief product officer at LinkedIn, wrote their own post about the button. “AI slop is a top priority for all of us. We really care about this. People come to LinkedIn to connect with real people and share their real perspectives, ideas and expertise. Here are a few more changes to keep it that way,” he wrote.

The button in part will help LinkedIn tune its own models for identifying AI slop. “We are ramping up a series of new and improved classifiers that identify if a post is AI-slop or generally low-quality content. This will reduce the amount of AI slop you might see in suggested content and content from outside your network,” the post said. “We are ramping the ability for members to tell us if they believe a post or comment seems like AI slop. Slop is hard to define and the definition changes; this lets us tune our models and make better feeds.”

The reason is that anytime anyone does research then it unearths blatant orders to fire upon Korean civilians by UN soldiers. I read a memoir by Canadian soldiers that was celebrating the war and it stated that they received orders to fire on any civilians as a casual aside.

"But I refuse to characterize as opinion a doctrine that is aimed directly at particular persons and that seeks to suppress their rights or to exterminate them." Sartre has all of these racist arguments with refutations in Anti-Semite and Jew and racists still keep making them word-for-word.

This sounds like it's directly copying the racist that Sartre constructed in Anti-Semite and Jew...
The true Frenchman, rooted in his
province, in his country, borne along by a tradition twenty
centuries old, benefiting from ancestral wisdom, guided by
tried customs, does not need intelligence. His virtue
depends upon the assimilation of the qualities which the
work of a hundred generations has lent to the objects
which surround him; it depends on property. It goes
without saying that this is a matter of inherited property,
not property one buys.

South Korea has military service and as a result there’s a gender war over resentment by men of woman who don’t have to do service. It’s an insane idea that has no connection to reality.
