My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com
As we join the great theoretical scientist, he is deep in thought. So still, quiet and focused that he might almost be asleep. But inside that brilliant mind, what new idea is forming? What certainty is being meticulously interrogated? What ingenious theory is ready to change our world forever? (the scientist snores lightly) Ah, it seems he actually is asleep. And that's fine. Science is hard and not every day can be a success. We will come back another time.

If you work in academia, you can take any patently obvious thing and shove it in an academic paper and then you have a theorum named after you. Assume this having read about the Arlo-Guthris trash-magnet effect ("people dump rubbish where others have dumped it, causing concentrations of material")

Wife suggested we watch Supernatural as our easy watch TV show. Previously we've done Wyonna Earp, Evil, and Sleepy Hollow, so it fits the bill nicely. I think she's not realised there were 327 episodes when she made the suggestion...

was thinking about replacing my old dumb yale alarm with a eufy smart alarm system as I already have a homebase for the cameras (local storage, not the cloud ftw!). seems like they don't sell the keypad outside of bundles that supply a redundant base station though, so I'm saved :)

We looked at a house in Stevenage Old Town about 20 years ago. Everything was very normal to a point. 3 bed, third bedroom had been converted into an office. All normal until we went into the master bedroom, which backed on to the stairwell. Above the bed was a large cupboard.

Just in case you didn't know ModRetro fucking sucks and "Automated War Initiative" is a disgusting title Also, War Crime Enthusiast Palmer Luckey is incredibly thin skinned and will chase you around various social media platforms if you talk sauce about him and his shitty M64. Worth it.
FB comment:

Palmer Luckey: Mike Fink the M64 is $230 not $320 and it is far more powerful than the Mister. We developed our own core and open sourceed all the hardware and software

And Aduril helps kill Russians, not children

Me: Palmer Free Luckey that's without the controller, not included, which is $90

And also fuck youWe still clown on you with memes
Palmer Luckey and is shit handheld emulator, along with other fascists that don't care about human life, like Elon Musk and JD Vance

The Phantom of Heilbronn, also referred to as the Woman Without a Face, was a presumed female serial killer whose existence was inferred from DNA evidence found at 40 crime scenes across Austria, France and Germany from 1993 to 2009.

In March 2009, investigators concluded that the supposed serial killer did not exist, and the DNA belonged to a woman who worked at a factory that made the cotton swabs used for collecting DNA samples

Just finished Jo Nesbo's The Leopard. Unsurprising to see that Nesbo lost his father, as the writing really reflects this experience. Surprising in the sense it was 15 years previous to the book coming out.
