The early seasons were on ITV first and I believe produced here. They ran fewer ads than the US networks, so there was usually a British sketch thrown in there to make up the running time that never made it across the Atlantic

My one experience with an actual marketing team was a total bust - they didn’t understand the book or the market and fluffed every opportunity that was put their way. But it didn’t really matter as they had decent distribution (which is the really big problem for indies).

So what is Punk? In Sept 12th 1975’s Time Out, Giovanni Dadomo was working on the question. It’s fascinating because what’s known as Punk today hadn’t yet broken, so his definition pays no attention to London or CBGBs, beyond The Dictators. Lou Reed, The Tubes, The Groovies all get GD’s nod.
