I'd heard about this place years ago; an ex colleague grew up there, helped build the tunnels. Extraordinary. There's an article linked in the comments, too. Funnily enough at the time they worried it would be unsellable, due to the - um - digging. ;-)

The 90s: Art and Fashion review – this isn’t an exhibition, it’s a magazine spread
The Young British Art of the 1990s was brash and macabre but also intelligent and emotional. This breathlessly superficial show reduces it to a stylish pose

For 'professional' reasons, I am a member of lots of small town Facebook groups. This bloke has been appearing in towns across Sussex (Horsham, Redhill, Crawley, East Grinstead) with no apparent explanation. This is precisely why I stay subscribed to these groups.

"Nowadays, they can dwell in an online space made up entirely of people who support their own club." this is completely the wrong way round - now fans are surrounded by anonymous supporters of other clubs who are constantly talking about your club, which causes aggressive defensiveness.

On the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street (in which Jewish, left-wing and trades union activists battled police to block a fascist march), here's the mural unveiled in 1983 designed by Dave Binnington on the former St George's Town Hall to commemorate the event.
The work is inspired by the social realism of Diego Rivera, and the likely was influenced by the Depression-era murals of Philip Guston. Using a fisheye perspective, it shows the violent confrontation between police and protesters, with protest banners, punches being thrown, a barricade of furniture and overturned vehicle, police horse, Hitler (who was not actually present) being pantsed, and a police autogyro overhead. It uses the same artistic devices as Goya's The Third of May 1808 to evince sympathy for the protesters, showing them full face but a back view of the police

The early seasons were on ITV first and I believe produced here. They ran fewer ads than the US networks, so there was usually a British sketch thrown in there to make up the running time that never made it across the Atlantic
