Sunset over the Atlantic. Always glorious to see that out a plane window.
Golden light in a WestJet winglet, flying above the clouds. Orange sunset on the horizon, with a silhouetted plane wing. Tiny bit of sun dropping behind the clouds for sunset.

It is almost as if restaurants were running out of ways to drive up prices, so they started using extra expensive ingredients, prepared in a way that ruins them. Wagyu shouldn't have a heavy sauce. The Char Siu prep process kills the subtlty of a fancy cut of pork. Steak frites from a filet? 🤦
88 Club has seen slightly more upheaval. In April, Lin stepped away from the restaurant, leaving it to former business partner Francis Miranda. Last month, Miranda flipped the concept into Tiger Tiger, where under the direction of chef Michael Chih, $36 black pepper filet mignon and $30 char siu take the place of $125 black pepper strip steak featuring Westholme wagyu and $88 char siu using Ibérico pork.

This is the thing in aviation too. Almost all the useful “AI” in aviation was what was previously called something else before the bubble. Algorithms. Machine learning. Pattern recognition. Specialised, specified language models. Text analysis. Meta-analysis.

When your Mac just won’t let go of the Wi-Fi connection
You ever have one of those moments when you start to copy a large file in the Finder and groan when the Progress Window tells you it’s going to take forever? I used to have them all the time, and it didn’t make sense until I figured out that macOS was gaslighting me about my network connection. The other day, Friend of the site Todd Vaziri wrote on Mastodon: Two M4 Mac minis, both running Tahoe on the same local network, gigabit ethernet, using standard File Sharing. I can’t reliably play a Blu-ray rip from one computer to another without it […]

M6 Mac mini review: Tiny, pricey, and powerful
2024’s M4 Mac mini was a revelation. It packed Apple silicon power into a shockingly compact space, breathing new life into Apple’s all-time utility Mac and (eventually) making it into a go-to device for home AI and even back-end podcast transcription. Two years later, the Mac mini gets its first update since it became such a popular purchase. It’s a bit surprising: while the high-end model has updated to the familiar M5 Pro chip found in the MacBook Pro, the lower-end model has skipped right over the M5 and become the first Mac to be released using the next-generation 2-nanometer...

Stupid question but are there antitrust restraint-of-trade implications to having multiple league stadium owners collaborating to refuse business to a particular musician? www.wsj.com/arts-culture...
Kraft, the 85-year-old billionaire, had a longstanding relationship with Sheeran-the English musician had even played at his wedding in 2022. Over the course of a 40-minute conversation, Kraft explained that he wouldn't host Macklemore, the outspoken American rapper, at his stadium.
More than that, several other National Football League owners were also ready to cancel Sheeran's dates as long as Macklemore remained on the bill.
By then, the tightknit circle of NFL owners whose hulking mega-venues host
everything from sold-out concerts to World Cup games had drawn a line in the sand.
David Tepper and Arthur Blank-the
respective owners of the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons-had made up their minds, people familiar with the matter said.
Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie would soon reach the same conclusion, as the owners traded phone calls and prepared to address the situation.
