"The Office of Religious Affairs". Uh-oh. Is Hegseth about to require all personnel to sing "Onward Christian Soldiers" every reveille?

Hmm. I grew up living on military bases-but someone needs to explain to me what building "the most lethal" military base entails. I mean, bases already contain troops, weapons, munitions, etc. Doesn't that make them inherently "lethal" installations? Or has Pete Hegseth been hitting the sauce again?

The first time I've ever seen Jack Smith chuckle...which is saying a lot considering how many MAGA chuckle-heads like Schmitt have tried (and failed) to get any kind of rise out him over the years. 😂

The wild 2021 doc LARRY FLYNT FOR PRESIDENT makes its streaming debut on HULU October 1st. By turns hilarious and harrowing (harrowing in the sense of how Flynt’s performative flirtation with politics presaged Trump and the MAGA cult). My original Tribeca review: www.denofcinema.com/tribeca-2021/

#TCMParty DVR Alert! Tonight on TCM's "Noir Alley": ACE IN THE HOLE (9:30 pm PST). Billy Wilder’s 1951 film is one of the bleakest noirs ever made ("I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons."). Ads rejected on the basis that Gibney's film is "political"? Really? It's not mentioned in the article, but I find it interesting that they all ran paid ads for the 'Melania' documentary without any qualms. 🤔

I've watched 26; and out of those, I wouldn't place a third on any "best" of the Century list. Most series I watch these days are subtitled; they are obviously discounting non-English language productions (e.g., the original Swedish version of THE BRIDGE and A FRENCH VILLAGE would be in my top 10).

THE SHINING was the first film I ever watched on HBO. It was actually at a friend's house; it was the early days of cable when few people had subscriptions. I remember thinking how cool it was to watch a recently released film at home, uncut and commercial-free. It almost felt subversive! #TCMParty
