The Milo stuff is the perfect picture of fascism. You think you're protected because you go as big as you can on racism, you spend years harassing the movement's perceived enemies, you even disavow your own sexuality. They'll still throw you in a cage over the tiniest disagreement already forgotten.

A letter from the mother of Alex Pretti, six months after he was murdered by ICE.
suzpretti

Today marks the six-month anniversary of Alex's murder. No one has been held accountable, no apologies, not a single phone call from any governmental official, hospital personnel, or the mpls police dept. Six-months of pain, a roller-coaster of trauma over and over. Every time another a death, another mention, a picture, a tribute, a sorrow so deep. I wonder how to move forward. Will I ever get over this loss and this pain?
Will I ever be able to enjoy life again? How does one live knowing that I have no power to change what has happened?

And yet the outreach not only from Minnesota, but from around the world has been nothing less than spectacular. Every card, every gift, every heartfelt letter has been read, touched, held, and cherished by us all. The kindness you've all shown us is beyond words. Please never forget Alex and what he believed in ~ equality and peace for all. I will remember the things that made you, you. It will never take your memory. As long as I'm here, you will never be forgotten.

For all you asking what you can do. Continue this fight. Never give up your right to speak out, protect your neighbor, your community and don't forget to spend time with those you love...

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

Guess I'll post this again
A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads:
Using Generative AI?
You’re prompting with Hitler!
GenAI is a Fascist Project!
Try using your brain instead
Don’t surrender your creativity to the tech billionaire’s control

How would you describe that worldview?
My father told me something when I was very small to instill confidence in me: “Nobody in the world is worth more than you, but nobody’s worth less.” It is an egalitarian view that I’ve carried around in my life. That’s why I am for free schools, free universities, free health care, and free babysitting. Because our society could afford it. In America, people think social democracy is some kind of communism. They think capitalism is freedom. It’s not. It’s only freedom to exploit people.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. How corrosive it is that public figures are--more and more shamelessly--ripping the copper wiring out of the walls. Integrity is for suckers. Abusing power is fun. Caring about anything bigger than yourself is lame. An elite class of evil toddlers

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.

Looking over the Epstein book messages, I'm struck by how comfortable everyone was with compiling something like this, contributing to it, and receiving it. Something most people with common sense would avoid like the plague. But the super-rich and powerful know how insulated they are.

I'm not sure why, but publications keep mistakenly claiming that the "learning gap" refers to "people and organizations not learning how to use these things," when it refers to thte models THEMSELVES being incapable of learning. The report is VERY CLEAR about this. web.archive.org/web/20250818...
4.3 THE LEARNING GAP THAT DEFINES THE DIVIDE
Takeaway: ChatGPT's very limitations reveal the core issue behind the GenAI Divide: it
forgets context, doesn't learn, and can't evolve. For mission-critical work, 90% of users
prefer humans. The gap is structural, GenAI lacks memory and adaptability.
Given users' preference for consumer LLM interfaces, we investigated what prevents
broader adoption for mission-critical work. The barriers here proved distinct from general
usability concerns and directly illuminated the learning gap that defines the GenAI Divide.pg. 14
Agentic AI, the class of systems that embeds persistent memory and iterative learning by
design, directly addresses the learning gap that defines the GenAI Divide. Unlike current
systems that require full context each time, agentic systems maintain persistent memory,
learn from interactions, and can autonomously orchestrate complex workflows. Early
enterprise experiments with customer service agents that handle complete inquiries end-
to-end, financial processing agents that monitor and approve routine transactions, and sales
pipeline agents that track engagement across channels demonstrate how autonomy and
memory address the core gaps enterprises identify.

Something very strange is going on
There is a seemingly coordinated effort to FLIP FLOP on Al. All of the execs who were hyping Al to death just a few weeks ago are now claiming that Al is a bubble, that AGI is nowhere near, and that Al will have a much smaller impact than anticipated.
> Altman called it a bubble
> Eric Schmidt said that AGI is basically bullshit
> Matt Garman (AWS CEO) downplayed its impact
WHY the sudden narrative switch?
WHO gave the orders?
I swear, it's like they're all part of some cult. They all embrace the same talking points all at once, and abandon them all at once.

A lot of media has normalised to a level of "oh so we're doing [thing] now," a willingness to publish whatever someone says and to let the reader decide its validity, as if the journalist is simply there to convey statements rather than any analysis of any kind
