Tech companies generate billions for the Irish exchequer in corporation tax, so they have a considerable amount of power and sway over the Irish government, writes illustrator Harry Burton. "This reminds me of the power and sway the Catholic Church had over previous governments and politicians."
In the illustration, we can see Micheál Martin and Simon Harris in the pews in a church bow before the behemoth that is Big Tech, represented by a stained-glass window with logos of various companies.

I was in Edinburgh in August and shot a roll of Fuji Film 200 on my EOS-1. paulhoey.ie/posts/edinbu...
A shot of the skyline in Edinburgh. The bottom half of the photo is trees and some old towers and turrets. The top half is a mostly clear sky.A photo of a park, there are trees at the top and in the middle right a person sitting on a park bench. The bottom part of the photos captures part of a lawn.A photo taken during a rain shower with extreme contrast as the lens is pointed to the sun. Te photos looks almost sepia in colour, there are people with umbrellas, a bridge and lamp post silhouetted against the cloudy sky.A photo of a red tile counter in a coffee shop from a front perspective. There are pastries in the left section, a silver coffee machine on the counter to the right and two members of staff facing away from the camera working behind the counter. Of the left in the foreground is a house pant as well as one in the background to the right. The morning sun shines in softly.

I wrote an essay about why I'm done using AI for coding, even if it costs me my job and career: brettcodes.com/im-done-usin... The basic gist is: AI made me a worse, apathetic programmer. I think it's bad for humanity, the planet, and the craft of software engineering. And I'm done using it.

Why I'm stopping using AI for coding (and anything else) after using it earnestly for a year and coming to understand the harms it causes on personal, societal, and environmental levels.

Blimps are so handy for signifying that a story is taking place in a parallel universe. You open a scene in iconic London but holy fuck is that a *blimp*? and you know you're in a parallel universe. Easiest shorthand ever. I think Fringe did it?

For some people, video games are about the wonder of exploring strange, thrilling, action-packed worlds but for me the joy of video games has always been all about moving to a franchise-centric planning strategy to better focus resources on long-term growth and stability amid broader restructuring.

There's a very short road between "legitimate concerns" & race riots on the streets. Politicians think they can casually hang out on the edge of this, backing up the legitimate concerns in rhetoric, but never in policy, meaning people will eventually take these bullshit concerns into their own hands
