At the pictures today I saw the trailer for I Play Rocky followed by the trailer for Ink, and maybe I'm feeling cynical but I felt a bit annoyed at having the life-stories of two seperate real life multi-millionaire media figures presented to me as something I should be excited about.

I know loads of people hated this movie, but sorry, I really loved it. I love how it's been deliberately crafted into this blunt and ugly thing. I love how it even sounded unpleasant. If it were possi...

I'm reading an old Superman comic where Mr Mxyzptlk strikes just as media mogul Morgan Edge has his pornography hand delivered to him by an employee.
Morgan Edge having "Galagirl" (presumably Galaxy Communications version of Playboy) delivered to his desk, only to find that Mr Mxyzptlk has taken the place of the centrefold.

You by no means have to hand it to Jacob Rees Mogg - one of the most callous, and frankly stupidest, posers to ever work in British politics, but even he seems like the voice of reason compared to the smug depravity of Tucker Carlson as he presents the ideology of Nazi Germany as self evident truth.

I have been very busy in work lately, which is the excuse I'm going with for spending so much on comics this week. My haul of early 80s Superman comics includes Mark Waid's first published work!
Just lots of comics. A particularly large amount of bronze age Superman.

I once tried reading Time Runs Out years ago, but I expressed an opinion about it on Twitter and a stranger patronised me, so I stopped reading it out of spite. This seems like a good format to have another go at it.

I bought an old Superman comic from 1981 today and, hello! Who's this in the letters page?
Superman #366Dear Editor,
I realize that I'm not the kind of person who can write long. indepth letters about vour stories the way other fans do. But that doesn't make my enioyment of your magazine anything less than total (most of the time). So I thought you would like to hear what one more fan had to say about SUPERMAN #361 Although this was my first peek at Captain Strong, Icouldn't help but see the resemblance to Popeye. Don't think that this was bad because he really did impress me with his actions throughout the story. As for Superman, he is always ready to help out at the slightest sign of danger, even if he does act too quickly some times. The thing that holds my interest is that Superman is one of the few heroes who is a super-hero in his normal identity and puts on the disguise to become a normal man-of-the-streets. Building on this fact makes for some interestina stories
The Superman 2020 tale, 'The Ace of New Metropolis"" was quite good for only eight pages. I can't help but be. impressed with Bob Rozakis' writing: he seems to do more in those back-ups than other writers do in 17 pagesl

meme from TNG's "The Drumhead"
The judge demands of Picard "Were you, or were you not at the Hawks game, you dirtbag?!"

Picard replies "Hawkeyes"

The judge is stared at in shock as she reacts, flustered by her own failure.

The Russos are going to be kicking themselves when they remember that they've already announced the name of the film that Avengers: Doomsday leads directly into, and literally anyone can Google the plot of the comic on which it's based.

I've always liked Neil Young but for some reason I've never ventured beyond Harvest, After the Gold Rush, & Decade. But this week I've finally branched out and I'm frankly devastated thinking about all the years I've wasted not listening to On the Beach. It's an incredible album!

Jimmy is human except when he is with the mods & then they're all Muppets. Sting is a Muppet until he's shown working as a bellboy & then Jimmy sees him as a mere human. On his solitary trip back to Brighton at the end, Jimmy flips back & forth between human & Muppet. This thing writes itself!

If there's anyone out there still not watching Lanterns because they're worried that they haven't got Hal Jordan's character right, I'm happy to tell you that in this week's episode Hal opens a mysterious portal that could lead anywhere in the Universe and immediately sticks his face in it.

Happy birthday Christopher Reeve. Many actors have played Superman, but none of them has shaped & defined the character the way Reeve did. Only Bud Collyer & George Reeves come close. Reeve changed the way Superman was portrayed in the comics & every subsequent portrayal is judged against him.

If you're a Marvel fan & you've avoided Tom Defalco & Paul Ryan's Fantastic Four run cos you only know it from clickbait articles about Sue's 4-shaped boob window, then you need to check it out. One of the great FF runs & relatively easy to get as it's been collected in a few Epic Collections.
