As I rewatched Used Cars the other day, I was struck by just how impossible it seemed that any current film would or could make anything like the climax of that film. H&S might be a tiny part of that, but I don’t think it’s a lot of it. Budgets for comedy is also part of it, but again not all.

Letterboxd and TMDB have deleted, of all things, Lonely Water (1973), widely regarded to be one of the best PIFs ever made. So that can fuck right off. I mean, it even got a Blu-ray release from the BFI, how can you justify the deletion of anything which gets that?

Although he's cameo'd in a few comics, it's unfortunate to say that Columbo never starred in a comic strip of his own. I'm proud of the story titles and the fake NBC brand.

I have finished All in the Family (apart from the 200th episode special), and it may well be the best sitcom ever made. And ludicrously, seems to get better and better as it goes on, eight or nine seasons in.

It sounds stupid, but I had NO IDEA how terrifying some (repeat: SOME) pedestrian behaviour was as a driver until I started lessons. Just people randomly walking out into the middle of the road, directly in front of cars. The worst thing is, I now know I’ve done it myself to drivers.

I sometimes idly think the problem with so much modern DISCOURSE is that some things genuinely are a zero-sum game, and people just do not like this. Something can't be argued to simply be the best solution that works as well as possible - it has to be perfect, with no downsides at all.
