i will go to my death pinning this on SomethingAwful, which 4chan was just a containment mechanism for in the first place the OTHER problem is that we are also, independently, dealing with Tumblr's vile offspring, ideologically, w/ none of the upsides

That's part of my complaint with this whole thing. This is great and all and we're embracing the warrior ethos and whatever. Fight a war with what? We have zero (0) carriers in the Pacific now. What are you gonna do? Command the tide to hold the PLAN back? Fly combat air patrols with seagulls?

It is crazy how quickly they’ve shifted from arguing about the purported cultural pathologies of black people to arguing that those exact same alleged pathologies are virtues in white peolle

So, the Iran debacle is rapidly shifting from really bad and very stupid that could cause World War III to really bad and very stupid that *is* causing World War III.

I think the problem is that for whatever reason, society/the media/whoever have correctly determined we need a way to reintegrate millions of people into society and from that incorrectly determined the way to do so is for the people who were wronged to apologize to the people who wronged them.

just heard the news about PPSSPP — now the community is going to have to fork it and rewrite all the changes made by Claude. A daunting task given the sheer volume of code, but fortunately there are modern tools that make this achievable,

Absent major institutional reforms that turn us into a multiparty democracy, totally transform SCOTUS, & significantly rein in the imperial presidency, this is the <best case> scenario of what is going to happen. Other, more permanent authoritarian scenarios are also possible.

For as much as people scoff when Dem politicians say the country needs a sane GOP, they’re right because you can’t just win every election. Thermostatic opinion is a bitch and you’re going to lose sometimes because of it. The insulation against that is losing to a party that won’t drive off a cliff.

really kinda sucks that, across the globe, we don’t have majorities of voters who think far right authoritarianism is bad If I had to sum it up it seems like 40% of voters are anti authoritarian 40% of voters are pro authoritarian 20% of voters just want cheap burgers

A good fresh Star Trek take on those fake isekai title jokes
A tumblr screenshot showing a post and two reblog responses, reading:
1. "star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home"
2. "I'm from a universe where your world is all a work of fiction." Benjamin Sisko, nodding. "That happened to me once."
3. "I Got Isekaid Into The Star Trek Universe And They Quickly Understood What Was Happening"

Part of the subtext here is the elite conviction that African-Americans, in particular, are lazy frauds using affirmative action to steal space in prestigious institutions from their children and colleagues, which doesn't necessarily translate to anti-immigration sentiment more broadly.

A recurring controversy in left-wing spaces is "Was Person X being antisemitic or does he just call everyone he's arguing with a 'filthy lapdog of the globo-capitalist elites who should be liquidated along with his spawn'?" and I'm kind of tired of it, to be entirely honest.

We wouldn't. We'd vote for somewhat *more* of the above but the overall preference is simply different in this country. It's a legit cultural thing and it's in no small part the result of who chose to get on a boat or a plane and who chose to stay behind and what cultural lessons they passed on.

Killed. NSF’s SBE was killed, in violation of law. The President does not have the power to choose to kill programs at a whim by defunding them. The imperial presidency was a mistake and we are in a separation of powers constitutional crisis.

Left-NIMBY vacancy trutherism is so funny because their argument implicitly accepts the logic that greater supply of housing lowers prices but then completely refuses to take it to its logical endpoint that we should build more housing.

Trump’s insider trading is, on its own, the worst corruption scandal in US history, with $$$ dwarfing Teapot Dome. So are Trump’s bribes-for-pardons. So is the Qatar bribe plane. So is all the Saudi money he (and Kushner) have pocketed. And the ballroom. And more. Each alone would be the worst.

The reason Dems have to investigate and prosecute - legally or administratively, as appropriate - where there is evidence of wrong doing is to prevent those found guilty from ever touching the levers of power again. I don't care if it's getting Al Capone on tax evasion. Get it all on the books.
