Kingfisher are just so photogenic! I watched this one at WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Gloucestershire (UK). It caught three small fish and returned to the same perch each time, before deciding that it had had its fill for a while. (24.09.26) #glosbirds #ukwildlife #birds @wwtsightings.bsky.social

Thanks to Atlantic Birding, today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Black&White; any shot in black and white. So, here are a couple of pictures of Avocet in flight along the River Avon, January 2026. #bristolbirding #ukwildlife #birds @atlanticbirding.bsky.social

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Raptors; any bird of prey. A super choice from Atlantic Birding - creating a good reason to post two more pictures of a Kestrel I saw a couple of weeks ago at Severn Beach! 🙂 #avonbirding #ukwildlife #birds @atlanticbirding.bsky.social

The wind ran through Girdle Ness today and birds were seeking respite. A Whimbrel hunkered with Curlews on the rocks. A Ruff, my first of the year, and a Bar-tailed Godwit found the golf course meadow facsimile appealing. #Birds #BirdingScotland #PatchBirding #UKWildlife

I have been away for a few days, but my wife and I managed a fleeting encounter with a juvenile Osprey, from the Tower hide this evening. The corvids drove it away before it could catch a fish, but it was great to see it in the golden light of the setting sun. #SeatonWetlands #Devonbirds

Black-winged Kites from Manche, Normandy last week. The absolute highlight of my morning walks, I'd pinned a site that I thought I might see one, never in a million years did I think I'd see as many as 6 in one morning! They were an everyday feature seemingly everywhere I birded within a 20km radius
