send hugvibes to thousands of folks with flooded homes today in Bangkok took all day and wading through flood waters but i managed to get out and to the airport... where thousands are getting off planes to find a 6hr taxi wait, or take a train to a flooded station, so are just camping here.

It was already a problem in the 80s. You end up having to look both further back. Also, going back to when the term was coined, it was never about being entirely free, but it was generally low cost and predicated on being able to continue to exist past the duration of a transaction.
