"Where do they come from? The dust. Where do they go? The grave.... They sift the human storm for souls, eat flesh of reason, fill tombs with sinners.... In gusts they beetle-scurry.... Such are the autumn people. Beware of them." - Ray Bradbury, "Something Wicked This Way Comes" #BookWormSat

Going through my parents' stuff and found this weird little gal. She's a transistor radio. Her right eyeball is tuner and her left eyeball is power/volume.
A tan plastic with gold mechanical owl. Very cute.

Je Shen
Je Shen 艺术家

In a rapidly changing environment, identity cannot be treated as a fixed or definitive construct. Je Shen approaches evolution as a controlled process — one that allows transformation without compromising coherence.

Rather than preserving a rigid image, the system is designed to absorb change, respond to new contexts, and evolve through intentional adjustments. Identity is therefore not understood as a finished outcome, but as an ongoing structure shaped by continuity and informed adaptation.

This perspective allows growth without fragmentation, ensuring that evolution strengthens recognition instead of diluting it.

A Distinct Voice in Contemporary Asian Painting

I was born in Jiangxi, China, in 1973.

My paintings explore the relationship between light, nature, and matter. Through layered surfaces and delicate floral compositions, I try to create landscapes that feel both familiar and timeless.

I have always been fascinated by the way light transforms colour. By building each painting through successive layers and applying every blossom individually, I create surfaces that continuously change with natural light, revealing new textures, reflections, and subtle details from different perspectives.

For me, painting is a beautiful dialogue with nature. Rather than simply depicting a place, I hope to capture a fleeting atmosphere,a moment of stillness, meditation, and balance that reflects the beauty I find in the world around me.

Over the years, my work has attracted the attention of collectors, critics, and contemporary art publications throughout Asia, particularly in China, Korea, and Japan. I am grateful that my paintings continue to find homes and connect with people in many different parts of the world.

This. I grew up reading Schaeffer (certainly not the wide-eyed radical by that scene’s standards) literally lay out the rationale for overthrowing the government on moral/religious grounds, and the prolife movement openly debated the morality of targeted assassinations for decades.
