"They're raising prices in places where demand is highest and lowering prices in places where demand is lowest" is a concept everyone understands and generally accepts *except* when it comes to pricing anything to do with cars and driving.

American housing discourse is toxic. Are you trying to tell me there's no SFH rentals, 'cause I've got news for you. Also, landlords who own one or several rental properties, are not preferable to "corporate" landlords 🙄🤦‍♂️

The thing with "don't complain about drivers; complain about the lack of alternatives!" is that I do complain about the lack of alternatives lots & drivers ignore me, dismiss me, reject any inconvenience or public spending, & consistently throw non-drivers under the bus (when it eventually arrives.)

Hmm, apparently Alex Lawson, a candidate for Ottawa's mayor, was (is?) a convoy supporter. I don't think I've heard of him before this, but I can't imagine this helping in the Mayoral race. I'd guess disqualifying, but I have strong opinions.

this is very clearly and directly genocidal: "Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group" is explicitly listed as a genocidal act in the 1948 convention, and Russia's intent to destroy Ukrainians as a people has been made clear over and over again

My view on this remains that it doesn't much matter what Jews do, strategy-wise, to fight antisemitism, because there are so so so few of us, and antisemitism is a thing with a life of its own, with little to do with Jews' own decisions/choices.

A proposal to redevelop a grocery store. Beside a commuter rail station, great new bike corridor, and bus lanes. 1,077 homes in buildings from 6 to 14 storeys. Neighbours call it a “massive” “megaproject” and want it scaled down to better match the scale of nearby single-family homes and duplexes.

<whispers> Data centres aren't really the problem. Increased electricity consumption isn't a major problem in itself, either. EVs, heat pumps, industrial electrification are all solutions. Not building enough renewables + storage, & improving the grid is the problem 😑
