NBC Bay Area post game coverage interviewing Eugene from Tiberon (maybe 6 or 7 years old?) about what the #WNBA finals were like. “It was really just, like, stressing and those players out there were just very stressed out” Good call Eugene. I think we all were very stressed out!

this is unacceptable they will only be there to harass players, and surely the league knows that, given the previous harassment from this outlet. Once again, not even doing the bare minimum to protect the peace of the labor force powering the league.

I love how these moral panics about family estrangement always bring up children refusing to talk to their parents, never the long history of parents disowning children. It's fine if dad wants to kick out his gay kid, not if his gay kid doesn't want to talk to his homophobic dad.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

A banker who commits embezzlement might never be able to work in finance again. A trucker who gets a DUI might lose her CDL. Not being able to do your old job anymore because of the nature of your actions is a pretty regular occurrence.

This! My most frequent AI interactions are with the chatbots that have taken over customer service and websites who’ve replaced their search engines with AI. Maybe they’re making corporations more money but they certainly aren’t making my life any easier or more efficient.

“There are cats you will never want to pet. Feed them anyway.” Read this. It captures something I’ve been struggling to articulate for a long time. As institutions fail community care becomes more and more essential, but people who are unpleasant (or experienced as such) are often excluded.

I won’t go so far as to say the art of criticism is dying, but I’ve definitively noticed a shift in discourse about creative media where you’re either supposed to “just let people enjoy things” or morally condemn a work, and any more nuanced analysis is perceived as mean spirited.

I do think that the Era of Hot Takes has done some damage in that people really seem to be trying to crowdsource an ethical framework and you can't actually ask strangers to do your morality homework. you need to come to those decisions through hard personal thought so you believe in them.

Google search is so bad it’s you don’t even need an illustration (ai or trad). You can simply use their search tools and take a screenshot.
Screenshot of a Google search for the work “cat” filtered to show results from the past year

“Your search - cats - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:
• Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
• Try different keywords.
• Try more general keywords.”

The sign says, "First they came for the algae..." which is in reference to a famous post-WW2 statement about Germans not speaking out against the Nazis:

Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak for me."
