There's whole classes in wow that I thought sucked years ago but everything sucks without level appropriate gear.

Also the assumption that everyone is playing with a collaborative group of players yet all the design disfavors helping.

The older the version of wow the more leveling sucked unless you had already done it before and had lots of resources. Like having to use consumables between every two NPCs or so. Early 2000s were very simulationists but at the same time insane grind struggle for everything.

I have played mmos on and off for 20 years and I had this theory thsr I used to be bad at leveling characters bc of my ADHD and have gotten much better. Was playing wow classic last week and actually leveling just sucked 16+ years ago.

Okay, sudden big latency problems in wow this afternoon. Advice from wow support forums blamed isp and suggests using a vpn. This seems to have worked? I usually expect vpns to add latency. This is weird.

I have made a WoW themed stocking for my sister in law. It's a netherweave bag. The letters are a little wonky but it's pretty good for an improvised prototype. I want her to open it now! It's stuffed with Reese's peanut butter cups and kitkats.
A dark grey fleece item made to look like a netherweave bag looks like in inventory in world of Warcraft. I freehand machine embroidered the "netherweave bag" letters which are a little hard to read. There are 16 pockets, 4*4. I drew extra lines and small diamond shapes between the pocket corners with a sharpie. There is an x icon on the top right, as you would see on a window and a small purple bag on the top left to represent the bag icon.

i bet that there are many stories out there we'll never hear about powerful wealthy men with connections to international finance and intelligence who almost went to an epstein party but were saved by telling their wives about the invitation and their wives saying "absolutely not, are you insane"

Book about Buddhist stuff: "... nothing is worth adhering to ..." Me: absolutely. Like schedules or formal meditation practice, or sorting my mail, the idea that I shouldn't ask lots of questions, you can just dump the silverware in the drawer you don't need to sort it, Book: sit down and shut up.

Haven't been to Barnes and Noble in awhile. I forgot that they put buddhist stuff in "eastern thought" next to philosophy instead of in the religion section. And some is randomly in "personal development". Current hyperfocus is various Buddhist topics and adjacent. B&N just has a lot less on /

There's no time like the present to leave it all behind, live in a hollow tree, become a dark druid, and befriend the moss & owls. They will not hurt you like the world does. Except for the owl bites. Those are quite painful.

Have not been able to get this passage from @vajra.me out of my head:
How do we become inedible to the machine? The visual artists, our beloved cousins, have more tools to poison their data against the colonizers of AI, but what’s there for those of us who work with only words? How do we become inedible to the machine? How do we poison it? Here is my answer: the machine will shake your tree and peel your oranges, but it can only eat the rind, so fill your vesicles with strange juices. The machine cannot understand even the fundamental cells of storytelling (metaphor &c.) much less the more complex organs and frames that we grow to support our stories—the reverse walpolitical manoeuvre, for instance, as a political-ethical-narratological exoskeleton—so it can only approximate the flavedo, and perhaps an albedo may be suggested as an accidental byproduct of a reader’s pareidolia, but beyond that there is only a hollow. Become more than the rind of yourself, and you’ll have employment yet for the rest of your days.

Holy shit. Reuters reporting that new admin instructions on visas are if you worked at a platform in trust & safety or content moderation or on fact checking or online safety at an platform you *and your loved ones* are ineligible for H-1B visa. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...
The cable, sent to all U.S. missions on December 2, orders U.S. consular officers to review resumes or LinkedIn profiles of H-1B applicants - and family members who would be traveling with them - to see if they have worked in areas that include activities such as misinformation, disinformation, content moderation, fact-checking, compliance and online safety, among others.

Put up plastic window insulation for the first time. This is probably one of those things that you get right the second time. Surprised to discover I have two sets of curtains like the ones I just put up. One is beige, one is white. Very ADHD different socks.

Half the disabled people I know are convinced they're not disabled enough for accommodations and should just tough it out. Even if we really were only shaming people 100% definitively faking it (and who would determine that? how?), the impact on the disability community would still be unimaginable.

Leaf mold allergies suck. "I feel it in the earth, I smell it in the air", etc. This is not that rare, but I still love seeing that I am not the only one with this problem. It's slightly harder to dismiss when asthma is involved, but I am still shocked that there are people who think they /
