Pink-bellied Moth! (Oenochroma vinaria) I found this magnificent creature in my garden last night. It was still stretching its wings, so I was able to get very close with my macro lens. Thank you for your patience, little friend! #invertebrates
Photo of a Pink-bellied Moth holding onto the end of a leaf. It does indeed have a pink belly, but also a pink face and pink legs with light and dark patches. Its eyes are dark brown, and its antennae are red with orange filaments.Same subject from above focusing on the moth's wings. They are a darker shade of pink than the belly with stripes of red and orange and dark red/purple patches. Its colours are not unlike certain gum leaves, and would probably camouflage it well in leaf litter.Same subject, cropped and focused on the moth's face. There is sufficient detail to make out the facets of its eyes, the top of its curved, pale-brown tongue, and the individual hairs on its face and antennae.

A double-crested cormorant dries its wings at a nature area in Longmont, Colorado.

In this horizontal color photograph, a double-crested cormorant perches on a tree branch jutting out of the water from a partially submerged tree in the left half of the frame.
Seen from behind with its head in left profile, the cormorant spreads its wings wide, drying them after diving underwater in search of fish.

Rippled pond water stretches across the image, reflecting the blue sky overhead with scattered clouds. Tangled around the tree branch near the center are fishing line and a couple of discarded fishing lures; one bright orange and the other a blue fish-shaped lure covered in white residue.

In just a week or so, this perch will be underwater again as the city continues filling the pond following an 18-month construction project. The St. Vrain Resiliency Project widened and improved the creek bank to increase its capacity to handle floodwaters.

A beautiful moment of a double-crested cormorant drying its wings in the wetland environment so vital to its survival.

A marbled polecat photo from Petra Prager. It looks almost exactly like a ferret, but the arched back is sort of orange with brown dots on it similar to a cheetah, and the head has a white stripe that reminds me of a skunk, with a long floofy tail and dark limbs. This one looks alert and at rest.
