btw i have honed the hōjicha latte recipe to: - steep hōjicha fairly strong (4g 4-5min in my little 300mL teapot, makes multiple servings) - fill cup about a third, add sugar - shake the "barista milk" well to get a li'l bit of foam and pour on top - heat in microwave for 50s at 1000W

Tweed is such a beautiful fabric to wear this time of year because it produces, in Dolly Parton's phrasing, a coat of many colors. Even a solid-colored brown is not just brown, but bits of red, blue, and yellow to produce something that looks lifted off the Scottish landscape.
There are two photos taped together. The top shows a brown stone building with a brown thatched roof. It's surrounded by green grass, stone walkways, and blue-gray sea. Below is a checked brown tweed that reflects the colors in the landscape above it. There are two photos taped together. The one at te top shows a rocky hillside with green and straw-colored grass, gray rocks, and a tan sandy beach below. The blue waters are crashing at the shore. Below is a green herringbone tweed that reflects the colors in the landscape above it. There are two photos taped together. The top shows a field of green and straw colored fields with bits of purple flowers. Below is a a series of checked brown tweed that reflect the colors in the landscape above it. A swatch book of solid-colored tweeds. The green tweed has visible flecks of red, gold, and blue.

One of my favourite places on Dartmoor is Wistman's Wood - a boulder-strewn hillside, densely-packed with stunted oaks, mosses, lichens, and ferns; a small oasis of residual temperate rainforest in the barren expanse of the Moor. #Photography #Trees #Woodland #Landscape #Ecology #Dartmoor
A dense thicket of dwarf oak trees sits amongst boulders in dappled sunlight. Most surfaces are covered in moss, lichen or fern. The whole scene is very green.

black gel ink drawing of a tall smiling humanoid figure with a lot going on: bark, leaf, wood, grass, lichen, and fungi on its skin, a small tree with berries growing out of the left side of its chest, its stomach burst open to reveal a honeycomb that is oozing honey. it cradles a mouse in its left hand and there is a snail on its left shoulder, there is a butterfly resting on its right knee and a moth on its left knee. as a border there are humanoid skulls at each corner of the paper, flowered vines on either side, and flowers with leaves at the top and bottom.

there's a pen for scale too: the drawing is a little longer than the pen used to draw it (a 0.5mm pentel energel), by about one additional length of the pen's cap.

Thickly Sown With Ghosts. Ink, watercolor, and gouache on paper, ~13.25”x~19.25” Excited that this piece is a part of A Bump In the Night at Paradigm Gallery + Studio in Philly! Opening 10/2 for first Friday, curated by Ginger Rudolph & Sam Heimer. Details: www.eventbrite.com/e/bump-in-th...
A mixed media art piece featuring two figures kneeling by the bank of a stream in a surreal woodland landscape. Rock formations soar up behind them. The figures are variously covered in whorled scar tissue, mosses and lichens, flowers, and both have select places where eyes peer out of holes in their skin. A dead animal (goat? Sheep?) is in the bottom left corner, and its guts spill out into the bottom middle of the picture plane. The left hand figure (who appears to have empty eye sockets) has her right hand in the pile of viscera, and blood spatters her hand up to the wrist. The right hand figure looks down with pale, pale blue eyes covered in some sort of cataract-like film and a dark red viscous liquid drips out of her mouth. Trees that have various fleshy things and teeth embedded in them frame the two figures. Water drips down the cliffs in the background from high places.

Dry September lichen and moss.
Trees try to grow on solid rock with limited success. They reach a size where it is unsustainable and they fall, mingling with the moss and lichen more suited to this terrain. Trees behind have found a little more soil to grow in. Evening at Hayes Canyon, southern Illinois, September 27, 2026.
