It was fun visiting the Ottawa area this week and seeing how early fall happens there
View across a glassy lake covered in lily pads to the trees on the other side, that are just starting change colours. The sky overhead is grey with low clouds.Close up view of a cluster of bright purple flowers with yellow centres.Looking down at the surface of a lake. The water is covered with a mixture of bright green, round, lily pads and fallen red maple leaves.Looking up the thick trunk of a huge oak tree at the canopy of foliage above.

…When he says he believes in genetics he plainly means that he believes in eugenics. This “Extraordinarily brilliant person” said that:
I have the highest of IQs. I have the highest.
I'm fine, and I understand that stuff. You know, my uncle was at MIT for 41 years, and you know, I'm a-I believe in genetics, frankly, and I understand. I understand it much more than I think any president would, because I do have an ability on this. I have an ability on those things that were the new frontiers.

Two double-crested cormorants fight over a perch at a nature area in Longmont, Colorado. #StunDay #BirdOfTheDay #Seabirds #ECK #bird #birds #birdphotography #birdsofbluesky #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #cormorant #cormorants

Two double-crested cormorants fight over a perch at a nature area in Longmont, Colorado.

In this horizontal color photograph, two double-crested cormorants face each other on a log perch above the water, their beaks wide open as they strike at one another. Both birds have their wings raised in the air.

The cormorant on the left faces the camera, with its head and neck turned to reveal its right profile. The cormorant on the right has its back to the camera, with its head and neck turned to reveal its left profile.

The cormorant on the left had just jumped out of the water to challenge the other bird for the coveted perch. The quick but aggressive spat ended with the cormorant on the left winning the confrontation and taking over the perch.

The background consists of slightly rippled pond water reflecting the gray, overcast sky. The water is disturbed beneath the birds, showing where the cormorant had just launched itself from the pond.

An interesting documentary photograph capturing the physical aggression that can occur between double-crested cormorants as they compete for a favored place to perch, sun themselves, and dry their feathers.

Close-up of a fully blooming dahlia in bright orange and pink tones. The outer petals are wide, pointed and strongly orange, with a bright yellow towards the middle. The center of the flower consists of densely packed, still unopened petals in a dark magenta pink. Green leaves and reddish plant stems can be seen in the background.
