Early autumn in the prairie. Hawthorn Hollow Nature Sanctuary has both a small prairie remnant as well as a prairie restoration. #autumn #prairie #wisconsin #nature #hiking

Today was a perfect day to get out and hike the trails at Hawthorn Hollow Nature Sanctuary! #prairie #hiking #nativeplants #Wisconsin #autumn

An old wooden sign in the shape of an arrow that points left, saying "PRAIRIE TRAIL". A blooming New England aster flopping in front of it.

Weather balloon #5 just went over. Four yesterday, and this is the first today. Another looks to be headed this way later today. #Wisconsin

Safe to say the Drummond's asters I rescued from my lawn last year are doing well. #nativeplants #garden #Wisconsin #autumn

Today this Skydive Chicago plane was operating in East Troy, Wisconsin when it saw an aircraft crashed in a field near the airport. They quickly had their jumpers skydive down to help. Photo taken in late July. #aircraft #planes #aviation #Wisconsin

Murdering some grass today. Another 250 square feet of native garden in the works. Still deciding what species I plan on sowing here in a few months, but I have ideas. And I might just go to 300 sq. ft., because why not? #nativeplants #garden #gardening #Wisconsin

I love fall in our native plant garden. While my neighbors gardens are dying, mine is still bursting with life. Both the New England Aster and Heath Aster are vibrating with bees activity. #plantnatives , #urbangardening , #gardens , #nativeplantgardens

I had an idea last night and I can't believe I never thought of it before. I went out to the Smolenski park prairie restoration this morning to search for spiders while the dew was still on their webs & highlighting them. I found seven banded garden spiders! #prairie #spiders #Wisconsin #autumn

Four sandhill cranes at Campus Park this evening! I love these dinosaurs. #birds #nature #Wisconsin

This is what I'm most excited for when it comes to #GTAVI. I was a huge Red Dead Redemption 2 fan and that game was loaded with so much wildlife. It's going to be a lot of fun searching a fictional version of Florida for all the animals they've included in the game. 8 more weeks until release!

Does anyone have any recommendations for some good field guides for plants of Wisconsin/Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region? I'm mostly interested in prairie and woodland wildflowers, but books that also include grasses and other plants would be ideal. #wisconsin #wildflowers #nativeplants #plants

I was cleaning some of the algae and moss out of my pond's bog filter when my hand brushed against something under the algae. It's a baby snapping turtle! 😆 Now that's a first! I have seen them around my yard before but never hanging out in my pond. #turtle #reptile #wildlife #Wisconsin #garden

Now that's luck! I went back to the prairie to see if the banded garden spider was still there after our heavy rain. It wasn't. And as I was staring at the spot where the banded garden spider would've been, I glanced over and found a yellow garden spider! 😍 #prairie #spider #Wisconsin #autumn
